RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: MAR. 13 TO 16

RENO, NV (Mar. 12) — Another weekend where weather might play a big part. On the good side racing begins in our region not to mention on TV and Interenet.

BE SURE TO CHECK THE INCOMING WEATHER AS IT MIGHT AFFECT ALL THESE MEETS.

CAR MEETS:

• Thursday begins at Kim’s Donut and Tea House when the Iron Mafia has its weekly meet. Gets started at 8 a.m. and location is 1328 U.S. 395 North In Gardnerville.

Friday and Saturday is when Monster Trucks roar in Winnemucca.

• While not a car meet as such, on Friday and Saturday Winnemucca is hosting a Monster Truck event at the Indoor Event Center. If you go be sure to bring ear protection and for further information go to, www.winnemuccamonstertrucks.com.

• Sunday has three events happening in the Reno/Sparks area.

  • Reno Jeeps & Coffee has their second meet of the month. Starts at 10 a.m. and is by he Human Bean Coffee stand at the corner of Longley Land and South McCarran.
Reno Cars & Coffee meets this Sunday.
  • Reno Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month starting at 10 a.m. Location is by the Human Bean Coffee stand located close to the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes,
Northern Nevada Muscle has a Scoppers Cruise In on Sunday.
  • Sunday, starting at noon, Northern Nevada Muscle is having a Scoopers Cruise in. Location is Scoopers at 1356 Prater Way in Sparks.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

As the season is only a few weeks away Rattlesnake Raceway is having a track clean up weekend.

• While most tracks are closed Rattlesnake Raceway is getting ready for a preseason clean up. Hopefully they can get the work done on that weekend.

Rattlesnake Raceway has test and tune sessions schedule at the start of April.
  • The next weekend is for Test and Tune sessions for cars on April 5. The following day the Outlaw Karts also have a test tune session. Of course this all depends on the weather.

RACING & PRACTICE (Motocross):

Battle Born MX begins its 2025 season this weekend at the Sandbox in Fernley.

• There will be racing in our region this weekend as BBMX starts its 2025 season. Location is the Sandbox MX track in Fernley.

  • Friday camping is from 4 until 9 p.m. then on Saturday gates open at 8 a.m. with practice during the day. Sunday is race day and the gates open at 6:30 with morning practice and racing to follow.

• REP Racing didn’t post its usual graphic for Riverfront MX and Prairie City MX. Be sure to check there websites just in car they might be able to have practice this weekend. Doesn’t look too hopeful right now.

E Street MX has planned to start it’s SXS season this weekend.

• E-Street MX Park planned to start the 2025 SXS season this weekend.

Looking at the forecast E Street MX canceled this weekend’s event.
  • Unfortunately the weather has resulted in the track canceling the event. They hope to have better weather for the second weekend.

• When this article was written MMX Racing had not posted their weekend schedule or if they’ll have one.

Depending on the weather the next round of this year’s Frigid 8 series might happen.

• Depending on the weather Round 7 of the Frigid 8 series will be run Sunday at the AMP track.

• This is an off weekend for AMA Supercross.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

Here is the NASCAR schedule for this weekend as they visit Las Vegas.

• This weekend NASCAR visits Las Vegas. The events are behind pay walls but one can see highlights on www.youtube.com.

• Sebring is this weekend and Peacock, www.imsatv.com and www.youtube.com have coverage.

  • On Thursday at 10 a.m. it’s the Mustang Challenge race, then at 1:50 p.m. the Porsche Carrera Cup event followed at 2:50 p.m. by the Lamborghine Super Trofeo race.

• ESPN + comes on at 2:50 p.m. with Formula 3 practice and at 4 p.m. shows Formula 2 practice from Melbourne. Then at 6:25 the network has Formula 1 practice followed at 8 p.m. with Formula 3 qualifying.

  • ESPN U at 9:55 p.m. shows Formula 1 qualifying.

• Friday starts at 8:20 a.m. when Peacock and IMSA has the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car qualifying from Sebring,

  • Then at 9:45 p.m. ESPN U has Formula 1 qualifying,

• Peacock starting at 7 a.m. and running until 7 p.m. will provide live coverage of the once around the clock 12 Hours of Sebring.

• Over on ESPN at 8:55 a.m. the network broadcast the season starting Formula 1 race from Melbourne, Australia.

That’s it for this weekend. Once again weather might affect several meets and has affected some tracks. Stay safe out there everyone and see you next week.
