RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: JAN. 9 TO 13

RENO, NV (Jan. 8) — Still in the Re-Run zone but more racing is starting to happen. Every day brings more daylight and us closer to racing in our region.

CAR MEETS:

The Iron Mafia has switched its weekly meets back to Thursday.

• The Iron Mafia has switched back to Thursday mornings for its weekly meet. Now they start at 7 a.m. and the location is Kim’s Donut and Tea House located at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

Saturday is when the Nevada Jeep Club host its 4th annual Wine, Women and Jeeps meet.

• Saturday, starting at 2 p.m., the Nevada Jeep Club hosts the 4th annual Wine, Women and Jeeps. Location is Champagne & Chocolate at 550 West Plumb Lane.

• Sunday is when Sparks Cars & Coffee has their first meet of 2025. Starts at 10 a.m. by the Starbucks located on Disc Drive in Sparks.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

This week’s schedule for REP Racing MX.

• REP Racing MX has released its schedule for this weekend. Over the hill both Riverfront MX does have a private ride day but that track and Prairie City will have practice sessions as well.

  • The Sandbox in Fernley will have practice on Sunday but remember one must register if they plan on being there. To register go to, www.repracingmx.com.
E Street MX Park has practice Saturday and Sunday.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both the front and back tracks will be used.

This year’s Triple Crown series ends at MMX Racing this weekend.

• E Street will host Rounds 5 & 6 of the 2024 Triple Crown series. This event will end the series until next fall.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL:

Dakar Rally is still going one.

• Thursday at 4 p.m. www.mavtv.com has coverage of the Dakar Rally then a 5 p.m. Peacock covers the same thing.

         -One can see highlights on www.youtube.com. It’s a classic off-road race through the deserts and     mountains of Saudi Arabia.

• Friday is empty so time to check out alternative sites for motorsport events you might have missed. One of them is www.floracing.com another is www.youtube.com.

• Saturday things get rolling at 7:40 a.m. when The Roku Channel has round one of the Formula E race from Mexico City.

Supercross fans rejoice as Anaheim 1 is this Saturday.

• Then at 11:30 Peacock network starts the series many have been waiting for; Arenacross. They start with Race Day Live then at 5 p.m. it’s time for Anaheim 1 as the series kicks off.

• Finally the day ends at 12:05 p.m.  when The Roku Channel has the Formula E race #2 from Mexico City.

• Sunday, starting at 11 a.m., NBC repeats Round 1 of Supercross from Anaheim.

The Chili Bowl Nationals starts Monday.

• Monday is when the Chili Bowl Nationals 2025 starts from Tulsa and goes until the final races happen on Saturday, January 18. All the competitors want to win the Golden Driller Trophy.

• The BMX track in Fernley has a new owner. No schedule yet but he’s planning not only practice sessions but events as well.

Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.
