SPARKS, NV (Dec. 22) – Three days before Christmas Sparks Cars & Coffee held its final meet of the month and of the year. Next time they meet it will be the second weekend in January 2025.
Unfortunately, due to the weather and the upcoming holiday, the turnout was sparse but there was a decent variety of cars.
At one end of a row were two exotic and high performance cars. One was imported, a Lamborghini, while the other was domestic, a Dodge Viper.
The owner Seth McDonough, was earlier highlighted for another Viper he owned, but this one is different.
“This is a 2015 Dodge Viper, it’s the last generation,” he said. “I had a second gen before this for three years but this is a whole different kind of car and there’s actually safety features.
“There’s traction control, in my second gen there was no traction control. It has a side exit dumps for exhaust but with my second gen it was a rear exit.”
Next question of course was how it is to drive the Viper.
“Sticks to the road, no matter what, even in rain. I’m going to keep it stock for now. Would like to send it to Caldo at some point but that’s probably a couple of years down the road. They’d do a 9 Liter, a cam and an exhaust but that’s about 40 grand.”
Not far away was a short row of a Lexus, BMW and an Acura Aspec SUV. The Acura is owned by Sheri Oswald and her husband.
When asked about an interview she looked at her husband and said, “You know more about my car than I do, I just drive it.”
Asked about itr she said, “It’s a 2022 Acura MDX Aspec. It’s just a series of this car so they had different models and the next one up is a Type S, which is more super sporty. It’s all-wheel drive and we’ve had it for two years, bought it brand new off the lot.
“Right now we’ve, the husband, put in air suspension a couple of weeks ago. The ride is the same but maybe a little bit better if I put into Sport mode. That tightens the steering anyway but not a huge difference.”
She added there are at least five modes to select when driving it.
“They are, Snow, Comfort, Normal, Sport and then Sport Plus but you can go up a little more. Then you can go Dynamic, which you kind of custom it out. It’s great going up Mt. Rose, a smooth drive.”
Next week is the fifth weekend of the month and usually many Cars & Coffee groups don’t have meets. Hopefully one or two will to celebrate the end of this year.
In closing I want to wish all my readers and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. With stormy weather coming in do be safe out there. Hope to see all of you next week.
