SPARKS CARS & COFFEE CLOSES OUT NOVEMBER

SPARKS, NV (Nov. 23) — Sparks Cars & Coffee timed it perfectly, as the meet was between two storm surges. Even though the cool weather might have reduced the car count there were more than enough on hand.

There is always variety at a meet. Here a restored Chevelle is next to a lifted 4X4 pickup.

As usual there were a variety of cars plus some trucks. On example was a very nice restored Chevelle next to a vintage raised 4X4.

Dave Selsnick stands by his 1966 GTO convertible.

Many times an owner has a car for several years and put a lot into it. One example is Dave Selesnick and his his 1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible he brought to the meet.

The GTO’s motor is now fuel injected.

Asked what he done to it, Selesnick said, “Well just about everything, it’s about a six figure car, but it does retain all Pontiac running gear and chassis. So it has the original 389 but it’s now fuel injected, a Muncie 420 wide-ratio 4-speed and has as a 308 Posi rear end.

“The wheels are all 20 inch all the way around, custom wheels. Has a 4-link suspension in the rear, coil overs in the front all Hotchkiss underneath with Ride Tech steering.”

A glimpse of the GTO’s new dash, shifter and leather seats.

The interior stands out as well. He said it’s custom with soft Italian Leather. And of course the installation was also custom.

Asked how it is on the road he said, “It drives great, it’s a wonderful car. It really gets up and goes, it’s nice and dependable with that fuel injection.

“I do not use it as a daily driver and in fact after the dollars that have gone into this car I never thought I’d have a trailer queen but I trailer it when I can, drive it 15 or 20 miles.”

He added that right now it has under 1,000 miles on it.

“ I just got it done in April in ’24. I’ve had it since 1997, this is the third time I’ve redone the car. I figured when I retired I’d to it for the last time. It took six years to get it the way it is now so the result of what you’re seeing right now is a six-year build.”

Then he added with a smile, “It’s probably the nicest GTO I’ve ever seen.”

Although not shown at the end of the Corvette row there was an Aston Martin.

As usual at these meets there was a Corvette Row with an Aston Martin at the end.

An Import Row was also part of the meet.

Not far away was an import row of several Japanese cars.

Next weekend Reno Cars & Coffee as well as Reno Jeeps Cars & Coffee will have meets on December 1, which is a Sunday.
