RACING PREVIEW: OCT. 10 TO 13

RENO, NV (Oct. 9) — It’s a full weekend of car meets, an off-road race and motocross not to mention racing on TV. Best part, it’s another weekend of good weather for our region.

CAR MEETS:

Nevada Bronco has a Bronco festival at Mills Park in Carson City.

• Things started Wednesday when Nevada Bronco started a 4-day festival at Mills Park in Carson City. There are displays, vendors and even some cruises. Don’t want to miss this if you’re a Bronco fan.

• Thursday gets rolling at 8 a.m. when the Iron Mafia meets at Kim’s Donut and Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

White House NV has its Friday and Saturday cruises this weekend.

• The White House NV has a cruise every Friday and Saturday from 6 until 9 and the location is 402 E. Telegraph St. in Carson City.

  • The Fernley Friday Night meet is a good way to unwind from the workweek. Starts around 6 p.m. at the 76th Station.
The Autumn Daze Car Show is this Saturday.

• Saturday is when the Autumn Daze Car Show happens. Times are 11 to 4 p.m. with an 8 a.m. roll in. Location is 1955 Oddie Blvd. in Sparks.

The season’s last Hamburger & Chocolate cruise is this Saturday.
  • Saturday is the season’s final Hamburger and Chocolate Tour. Meeting is at Baldini’s at noon and the destination is Burger Me at 6280 Sharlands Ave., 101.

  • The Reno SCCA has two days of Solo competition Saturday and Sunday with a 7:30 a.m. start time. Location is the Regional Public Safety Training area. For further information please check, www.renoscca.org.
The last Detail car show is this Sunday.
  •  Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. is “The Last Detail Show,” Location is Peterbilt TPE as 2272 Larkin Circle in Sparks.

  • Sparks Cars Coffee meets Sunday starting at 10 a.m. by the Starbucks on Disc Drive in Sparks.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

VORRA and Legacy Racing team up to stage the Gold Rush off-road race this weekend.

• This weekend is when Legacy Racing Association and VORRA combine forces for the Gold Rush, Virginia City to Tonopah off-road race.

  • Thursday at the Dayton Rodeo Grounds is when qualifying happens. Friday is registration and tech at Virginia City, a good time to see the racing vehicles close up.
  • Saturday is race day, starting at the Dayton Rodeo Grounds and Sunday is for the awards.
Quincy Speedway ends its regular season Saturday with the Timber Cup races.

• Quincy Speedway ends its regular season with the Timber Cup races. Track is located in East Quincy by the Fairgrounds and Friday is practice while the races are on Saturday with a 6 p.m. start time.

RACING & PRACTICE (Motocross):

REP Racing MX has a full schedule of practice and racing this weekend.

• REP Racing has a full schedule this weekend.

  • Riverfront MX has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. then at the same  time on Friday.
Riverfront is where Round 4 of this season’s Saturday Night series will be held.
  • Saturday is the 4th round of the Saturday Night series and Sunday from 9 until 2 p.m. is a private ride day.
  • Prairie City has open practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
  • The Fernley Sandbox MX track has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. Remember one has to sign up at www.repracingmx.com.
MMX Racing has practice this weekend.
  • MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday on the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. On Sunday there is practice from 9 until 3 on the Vintage, Sand and Kids but at 1:30 the Main’s practice ends.
E Street MX Park has practice this weekend.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• This is a busy weekend for the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship and its supporting series. They’re at Road Atlanta for this weekend that ends thei season.

  • Friday starts on Peacock at 10:05 when the network shows the first VP Sports Car Challenge race. Then at 11:10 www.imsa.tv comes on to show the first Mazda MX-5 Cup race.
  • At 2 p.m. Peacock and IMSA.TV team up to show the Porsche Carrera Cup event. Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.

• Friday starts at 5:40 a.m. when Peacock has the second VP Sports Car Challenge race. Then IMSA.TV at 6:45 has the second Mazda MX-5 race followed by the Michelin Pilot Challenge.

  • Peacock comes back at 12:20 to show qualifying for the IMCA WeatherTech Sports Car Challenge series at Road Atlanta.

• Saturday starts at 6 a.m. when www.mavtv.com airs the World Superbike race from Portugal.

  • Peacock and NBC come on at 9 a.m. to start the season ending IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car race known as the Petit Le Mans, a 12-hour race. Then at 6 p.m. the USA network takes over the coverage and shows the end of the race.
  • At 1 p.m. the CW.tv network airs the Xfinity race from Charlotte Motor Speedway. This time they  race on the Roval configuration,

• Sunday starts at 6 a.m. when mavtv airs the second World Superbike race from Portugal. Then at 11 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Qualifying Show from Texas.

  • NBC, at 11 a.m. has the next elimination round in the NASCAR Cup playoffs. This time they’ll turn left and right on the Charlotte Roval that combines part of the oval as well as an infield road course.

  • Finally, at 1 p.m., Fox Sports 1 has the final rounds of the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals. Racers are working to score points as the Count Down to the championships continues.

Important meeting for car clubs Sunday.

• Sunday is when Nevada Car Coalition hosts a meeting at the National Auto Museum. This is plan for next May’s Summer Salute at Rancho San Rafael, a benefit for veterans.

Sign ups for Round 10 of the BBMX season are now open.

• Sign ups are not open for Round 10 in the BBMX series, which will be staged at E-Street MX Park on October 10/20.

Time to register for the Stacyc race.

         – After Saturday’s practice and starting at 4 p.m. is the Stacy race for the youngest riders. Sign ups are not open.

Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.
