RENO, NV (Sept. 25) — Fall is here and regional short tracks are ending their seasons. Even car meets will start being reduced although there are still many events and motorcycle racing continues.
CAR MEETS:
• While not exactly car related the annual Street Vibrations Fall Rally begins Thursday and runs through the weekend. Locations are in Reno, Virginia City and the Harley Davidson dealership on Carson City.
• Thursday at 8 a.m. when the Iron Mafia meets at Kim’s Donuts. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.
• Friday is the season’s last car show at Summit Racing located on East Glendale in Sparks. Times are 4 to 7 p.m. and there are prizes and one can get photos of their car.
- The White House, located at 402 E. Telegraph Street in Carson City hosts cruising Friday and Saturday. Times are from 6 until 9 and should be great weather.
- Starting at 6 p.m. Friday is another Friday Fernley Cruise. Meeting place is at the 76 Station.
– Around 6 to 6:45 Friday the Reno Sport Bikes will meet by the Mavericks on Sutro. Then they’ll ride to Buster’s Bar for some dinner.
• Saturday is the 8th annual Show ‘N Shine to benefit the Fallon Theater. There will be parking spots along in front of the theater as well as prizes.
- Saturday evening starting at 4 p.m. the Square Body Passion Car Club is hosting the 2nd annual Bow Tie Show & Shine. Location is Bullys at 3530 North Carson Street in Carson City.
• Sunday is when the Classic Chevy’s Plus Club is having a cruise from Reno to Truckee via Lake Tahoe. Meeting location is by the Gold Ranch and departure time is 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
RACING (4-WHEEL):
• Quincy Speedway ends its 2024 season with a two-day show. Racing usually begins around 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and the pits are by the Fairground.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• No word on the Fernley Sandbox MX but usually they have practice from 8 until 1 p.m. on Sunday. One has to register at www.repracingmx.com and be sure to check their Face Book or Instagram page to confirm practice is on.
• Over the hill E-Street MX Park has a ride day from 9 until 2 p.m. for OTHG Sierra on Saturday. Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is for open practice.
• This week MMX racing from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday has practice on the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. Then Sunday, from 9 until 3 p.m. the Vintage is added to the mix.
• Riverfront MX is busy this weekend with a racing double header as they make up for an event lost due to weather.
- There will be practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Friday. Then Round 5 of the Saturday night series is run Saturday, gates open at 10 a.m., practice begins at 2 p.m. with racing to follow.
– Sunday is the make up race for Round 1 that was canceled due to weather. Gates open at 6:30 a.m., practice begins at 8 a.m. with racing to follow.
• Prairie City should have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.
•Friday starts on Fox Sports 2 a 12:30 when they show the Craftsman Truck Series practice and qualifying. Then at 2:30 the network airs the ARCA Racing event from Kansas.
- Fox Sports 1 at 4:30 p.m. has NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from Madison, Wisconsin. Then at 5:30 p.m. the network show the Craftsman Truck Series race from Kansas.
• Saturday begins at 5 a.m. when www.mavtv.com has the World Super Bike race from Aragon. TruTv a 7:30 a.m. shows the MotoGP Sprint race from Indonesia.
- At 11:05 NBC Sports App has NASCAR Cup practice and qualifying from Kansas. At noon mavtv show the MotoAmerica Super Bikes from New Jersay.
- Finally the day ends at 1 p.m. when the U.S.A. network airs the Xfinity race from Kansas.
• Sunday has a early start at 5 a.m. when mavtv has the second World Superbike race from Aragon. Folloqws at 7:30 a.m. when TruTv has the MotoGP race from Indonesia.
- At noon the USA Network has the NASCAR Cup race from Kansas. This is another elimination round of the playoffs. Also at noon mavtv has the second MotoAmerica Superbike race from New Jersey.
- One more event starts at noon when Fox Sports 1 has the finals at the NHRA Midwest Nationals from Madison. Here is another round of the championship countdown.

• Wednesday’s Bike Night at PJ&CO was very special. It was a meet and greet for Motorcycle Mary McGee. She’s the first women to hold a license from the FIM (The international body), is in the AMA Hall of Fame and other ones as well.
Mary was the first person to race the Baja 500 solo on a motorcycle. A couple of years ago Angie Figg rode the Vegas to Reno solo on a motorcycle and McGee was her inspiration. On this night she finally got to meet Motorcycle Mary.
• Sad new for those racing the MRANN series. Round 8, scheduled for October 5 and 6 has been cancelled but Round 9 is still a go.
• Signups are now open for Round 9 of the BBMX series. Location is Winnemucca MX with practice Saturday and racing on Sunday.
- For those that have youngsters racing in the BBMX Stacyc races sign ups are open. These races start at 4 p.m. Saturday.
• In two weeks Northern Nevada’s dirt oval season ends with the 38th annual Dirt Track Championship races. It’s a Friday-Saturday event and a driver’s overall finish determines if they win their class championship and have a year’s worth of bragging rights.
- • Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.
He recently started his broadcasts so check Face Book around 6 p.m. Wednesday. He also posts during the week.
