OUTLAW FLAT TRAC RACES AT FUJI PARK

CARSON CITY, NV (Aug. 24) — The 8th annual Outlaw Flat Trac Races were held this weekend at Fuji Park. It’s a Friday-Saturday show with amateurs racing in the afternoon followed by the Pro racers.

Rains came Saturday but they were able to get the amateur heats and races in. Then the rains came again but stopped in time for the opening ceremonies.

Once that was over there was a series of heat races. After another short break it was time for the show to get rolling.

In the Duce final two winner Stevie Bonsey uses the inside line to take the lead from Kenny Holland.

First on tap was the Duce. Each rider picks a number and is paired with another. They race for four laps and the winner stays while runner-up heads for the pits.

Stevie Bonsey does a whellie as he wins the Duce final.

When the final duo got the green flag Kenny Holland jumped into the lead with Stevie Bonsey giving chase. Eventually Bonsey took the lead and did a wheelie as he passed the checkered flag.

At the start of the Open Amateur race winner Ryder Gitz-Hay (14) is on the front row while runner up Robert Bush (44) is on the second row.

Next up were the Open Amateurs and 11 of them took the green flag. On the inside of row 1 was Ryder Bitz-Hay while behind him was Robert Bush.

Eventually Bitz-Hay took the point and roared off to claim the victory. Bush ended up second ahead of Joe Pereira and fourth place Zane Davis. Oddly enough there was only one Nevada rider in the field as the rest were from California.

All the flat track races use a standing start. The starter will check everyone then move inside of a circle just off the track so when he drops the green the racers take off.

Next came the popular Running of the Bulls. These motorcycles are classic Bultaco’s that were manufactured in Spain.

Soon after the green waved one rider went down on the backstretch. Several riders stopped to see if he was okay and soon everyone got ready for the restart.

Jonathan Schaefer on his way to winning the Running of Buls main.

On the second green Jonathan Schaefer was on point while Michael Rodrigues and Curtis Peebles gave chase. Late in the race there was a pile up but after the restart it was Schaefer, Rodrigues and Peebles – they would finish in that order.

The top finishers in the Running of Buls hold up their trophies. They are Jonathan Schaefer (1), second Michael Rodrigues (54E), and Curtis Peebles (25W).

After his green-to-checkered run Schaefer said, “I was trying not to look back but was trying to ride my line and not crash. The track feels good, going up, going down the track feels great.

Then he thanked Make Hardy, Steven Nielson, Quad Lake, his stepdad and everyone that supports him.

Now it was time for the fun race, the Crazy 110’s. These are small pit bikes usually raced by adults or teenagers.

The Crazy 110 winner was Gerrit Stillmock.

While they use the front straight there is a chicane that leads them into a series of whoops on the infield then they round Turn 4 and race down the front stretch.

The entry to the whoops was tight and there were some pileups during the race but everyone was able to continue. Up front Gerrit Stillmock led and scored the victory followed by Jeff Jallo, Jett Lloyd and fourth place Jake Porter.

Now it was time for the big race of the night, the Open Pros. As they were racing for a big payout their race was 20-laps rather than the 8-Lap races everyone else ran.

Right after the green one rider went down entering Turn 1. So the race was stopped and a restart ordered. When the green waved again Kage Tadman took off with Clayton Williams giving chase.

Behind them Michael Inderbitzin was work his way through traffic. Once he took second the chase was on.

Using the outside line Michael Inderbitzen (54) takes the lead after charging from the back.

Lap after lap he closed on the leader. Using the high line he finally took the point in Turn 3 and started to extending his lead.

Michael Inderbitzin on his way to winning the Open Pro main.

In the end Inderbitzin won the race followed by Tadman, Williams and fourth place Christian Spurgeon. Then, after a victory lap, he and the other two lined up for the awards.

The Open Pro top 3. Winner Michael Inderbitzin (5), second Kage Tadman (28) and third place Clayton Williams (195).

“I really had to work, I don’t really know what happened off the start. It happened so quick and I ended up going down, thought I dislocated my shoulder but it was all right.

“Lined up on the back, hammered down and was able to put in some clean laps. Kage, Clayton every was running awesome tonight, they didn’t make it easy that’s for sure.”

Then he thanked La Blanc Racing, Rackley Racing and Pacific Tub and Tile.

Now everyone heads home but next August the Outlaw Flat Trac races should return to Fuji Park again for the 9th annual edition of this race.

During the afternoon there was a full show of amateurs and other classes. Friday also had a full slate of races including the Police VS Fireman event.
