RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: APRIL 9 TO 12

RENO, NV (May 9) — It appears spring and maybe summer might has arrived. Good thing as there are more car shows, cruises and racing this weekend.

CAR MEETS:

Thursday starts early when the Iron Mafia meets at Kim’s Donuts.

• Thursday begins early when the Iron Mafia has its weekly 8 a.m. meet. Location is Kim’s Donuts at 1328 U.S. 395 North.

Summer Racing in Sparks on East Glendale has a cruise in starting at 5 p.m. Friday.

• Friday, starting at 5 p.m., is another Cruise Jn at Summit Racing. Will be a D.J. plus manager specials and the store is on East Glendale in Sparks where the railroad tracks cross the road.

Saturday evening is the next Fernley Cruise nite.
  • To the east there is another Fernley Friday Night Cruise up and down Main Street. Times are from 6 until 9 p.m. Saturday and it’s a great way to end the workweek.
Big Mama’s Show & Shine is in Gardnerville this Saturday.

• Continuing Saturday is a busy day. Things get going at 10 a.m. at Lampe Park in Gardnerville for Big Mama’s Show & Shine.

Tesla & Coffee is this Saturday at the National Automobile Museum.
  • Also starting at 10 a.m. Saturday is the Tesla & Coffee car show at the National Automobile Museum in downtown Reno.
There is a cruise to Chilcoot this Saturday
  • If you’re into cruising starting at 11:45 a.m. there is the Chilcoot Cruise In. Nice way to enjoy the warm weather.
Here are the particulars for the Chilcoot Cruise in hosted by Northern Nevada Muscle.

         – I’m attaching their notes with the meeting place and, for those that want to stick around a possible  cruise to Frenchman Lake might happen.

VMS celebrates its grand opening with a party Saturday afternoon.
  • Later that afternoon, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. one can help the Grand Opening at VMS located at 465 Tacchino Street in Reno. They’ll have free food, snacks, music and more.
  • There are two other meets I don’t have posters for. One is the Veteran’s Car Show at Reno. Runs from 9 until 2 p.m. at the Reno Elks Club. The second is the Child’s Play 5th Annual Car show at Discovery Park in Reno.

  • Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is the next Sparks Cars & Coffee meet. Location is by the Starbucks on Disc Drive in the northern part of Sparks.
The Sparks A&W has a Cruise In every Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m.
  • Remember next Wednesday, starting at 5 p.m., the Sparks A&W will have another cruise in. Location is across the street from Reed High School.

RACING (REGIONAL 4-WHEEL):

Dwarf Car Nationals will be at Quincy Speedway this weekend.

• Biggest race this weekend is the WSDCA National event at Quincy Speedway. Practice begins Thursday with heats and races Friday. Saturday is when the main events will be held.

Rattlesnake Raceway has a Friday-Saturday show this weekend. They give away kid’s bikes on at the Friday show.

• To the east of downtown Fallon there is a Friday-Saturday show at Rattlesnake Raceway. Friday there will be a kid’s bike give way as well as a driver meet and greet Saturday.

Grace Productions will be at Rattlesnake Raceway this weekend.
  • If one is racing and wants some great pictures Grace Productions Motorsports Photography will be there. A picture is a great way to say thanks to a sponsor or that special person supporting a driver.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCYCLES):

Round 4 of the BBMX season is at the Fernley Sandbox this weekend.

• There are two motorcycle races in our area this weekend. The Fernley Sandbox is hosting round 4 of the 2024 BBMX series.

  • On line registration is not open and that includes sign ups for Saturday Stacyc race for the youngsters. Saturday is for practice while Sunday, after a short practice session, is race day.
Moto Novo is hosting this weekend’s round of the MRANN series.
  • To the east Moto Novo M/C is hosting the next round of the 2024 MRANN series. Saturday is when the Pee Wee’s race followed by the V Women, Bombers and Vintage race on a short course. Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is for the big bikes as the race on a new 48-mile loop.

• Over the hill Riverfront MX has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday. Then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday on the Main, Kid’s and Vet tracks.

  • Prairie City has a DCMXRideDay from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday. Then from 9 until 2 on Sunday its open practice.
E Street MX hosts a Sierra OTHG event this Friday and Saturday.
  • E Street has a two-day double points race for OTHG Sierra. Friday is for practice while Saturday is race day.
MMX Racing has practice this weekend.
  • MMX Racing has practice Saturday and Sunday from 9 until 2 p.m. and on Sunday the Vintage track is added to the mix.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday at 3 p.m. is when Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. This program will only continue until the end of June.

• Friday at 1:30 p.m. Peacock has Indy Car qualifying from the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

  • Fox Sports 1 at 4:30 p.m. has the Craftsman Truck series race from Darlington Raceway.

• Saturday starts at 7:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Cup practice and qualifying. Then at 10 a.m. the network airs the Xfinity race.

AMA Supercross ends its season this Saturday at Salt Lake City. It’s the championship round. Course map courtest – swapmotolive.com.
  • Peacock and USA at 11:30 a.m. carry Race Day live. Then at 5 p.m. they air the season ending AMA Supercross race from Salt Lake City where the champions will be crowned.

  • At 12:30 p.m. NBC has the Indy Car race from the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Then at 4;30 p.m. www.imsa.tv has qualifying from Laguna Seca for the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car series.

• Sunday begins at 4:30 a.m. when www.trutv.com broadcasts the MotoGP race from Le Mans, France.

  • At noon Fox Sports 1 airs the NASCAR Cup race from the series oldest super speedway, Darlington Raceway. Its also known as The Lady in Black or The Track Too Tough To Tame.

  • NBC and Peacock, at noon, team up to air the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car race from Laguna Seca. A scenic track located near Monterey, Caifornia.
