MRANN 2023 AWARDS BANQUET

RENO, NV (Jan. 6, 2024) — On a cold and snowy night MRANN held its 2023 Awards Banquet west of Reno at Boomtown Casino Resort.

This time the banquet was divided in half. Things started with the Saturday racers that included the youngest racers as well as Saturday Women, Mini bikes, Bombers and Pee Wees, which are the youngest riders.

The Fayet brothers Ducati and Suzuki stand with their trophies.

Two brothers scored a triple this past season winning three first place trophies and having perfect seasons.

When asked about his Suzuki Fayet said, “I won the 50cc six and under class. It was very good. I like racing and I like battling.

His older brother Ducati scored a double and he said, “I won the 7 to 8 50cc title and I won the Amateur group in 65cc.”

Then he thanked their parents, Moto-Source and Michael’s Reno for the discounts on boots and bike parts.

Sierra Koch was the Saturday’s Women’s Expert champion. This coming season she may start racing with the big bikes.

Then she gave her mother Claire special thanks for being there for every race. She also thanked MRANN for excellent races and those that pitted for her.

Look ahead to the 2024 season she said, “I think I’m going to try out Sunday next year”.

Usually in MRANN Saturday is reserved for those that race on short courses and where the races are timed.

Sunday races are on a long course, usually around a 50-mile lap, and where the younger racers hope to move up to.

Jesse Miller won championships on Saturday as well as Sunday. Here he is with his Saturday trophy.

One racer, Jesse Miller, has a foot in both days a he is the 100 Mini Champion for Saturday then won the 4-Stroke title on Sunday.

Asked about Saturday challenges he said, “Not really but on the third round there was someone that really challenged me. I had to battle with but it was a really smooth year.

“I raced big bikes so minis are just kind of like a warm up. This year I raced 4-stroke expert but next year going to move to 250 Expert.”

Then he thanked his parents, Dunlop Tires, 100%, Quick Moto, Studio 33 and others.

After a very nice buffet dinner Boomtown prepared it was time for the Big Bike riders to be honored.

Then she thanked her family and fiancée, Open Amateur racer Jacob Dacus, as well as the Tank Slappers Club.

Madden Kirsch won the Open Class title and was second in overall points.

Then there was a ceremony handing out blue plates to the top 20 in points. In 2024 they’ll race with blue plates that has their ranking number on it.

In 2024, when he races in MRANN Austin Serpa will have the #1 plate as he is the 2023 overall point’s leader. He also was on the winning American team at the 2023 ISDE competition.

Finally it was time to honor the 2023 Overall Point’s Champion Austin Serpa. In MRANN it was his ninth title and earlier this year he was part of the American championship time ISDE event held in Argentina.

Asked what the 2023 MRANN title means he said, “This one’s cream of the crop, it’s the top of the top in MRANN. I only have two overall championships the majority of them are class championships. This tops any accomplishment I’ve gotten before like ISDE, winning on the world stage, it’s hard to comprehend, it’s hard to match.

“Next year is going to be a little bit different. I’m still going to try and race as many MRANN races as I can but I’m going to do a lot of District 36 Enduros. I’m just grooming myself in the woods for ISDE in Spain.”

Then he gave special thanks to his father, who is number one supporter. While the elder Serpa doesn’t attend much of the races Austin said he still support shim. He also expressed appreciation for sponsors Carson City Motorsports, Delany Drive Components and Moose Racing.

Now everyone gets a few weeks off and to prepare for the opening round of the 2024 MRANN season. Dates are February 3 and 4 but this time big bikes race on Saturday while the rest go on Sunday.
