RENO, NV (Dec. 13) – The end of the year is coming fast so we’re still in the Re-Run Zone for the next couple of weeks. Until then there are car events and motocross practice sessions to attend as well as things on the Internet.
CAR MEETS:
• The weekend gets rolling at 7::30 a.m. Thursday when the Iron Mafia has its weekly meet. Location is at Kim’s Donuts 1328 U.S.395 North in Gardnerville.
• Then there is the Fernley Friday Night Meets. They start at 5:30 p.m. by the 76th Station.
• There are three events Saturday. Starting a 1 p.m. Cars & Boba will have its annual Holiday Toy Drive. Location is 199 Damonte Ranch Parkway. The toys benefit the Women and Children Center of the Sierra.
• Two Bully’s Bar and Grill locations are having SXS cruises starting at 3 p.m. Saturday.
- One is the Bully’s located at 2955 N. McCarren Blvd. in Sparks. That’s the shopping center where N. McCarran Blvd. meets Pyramid.
- The other Bully’s has raffle prizes, a toy drive and other things. That location is 9725 Pyramid Hwy, north of W. Calle De La Plata.
• Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is when Reno Cars & Coffee hosts its second meet of the month. Location is by the Human Bean Coffee stand located close to the corner of Kietzke and Moana Lanes.
- While freeway access is close those leaving late need to be aware. Former President Trump will be speaking at the Convention Center at 2 p.m., so traffic could be heavy in the area.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• No motocross racing right now but there are practice sessions this weekend.
• MMX has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday on the main, sand and kid’s tracks. Then on Sunday Sunday practice at the same time but the vintage track is for an OSMX Ride Day.
- Riverfront MX Park will have practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday. The weekend times are 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
– Although not posted I’m guessing Prairie City will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
- E Street MX Park will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both the front and back tracks will be open.
- When this was article was posted there was no word on possible practice sessions for the Fernley Sand Box. So maybe they’ve shut down until after New Year’s but we’ll have to wait and see.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• As I mentioned we are in the depth of our annual visit to the Re-Run Zone. As a result it’s time to check other sources of motor sport news and see replays or clips of racing one may have missed.
- One source is www.youtube.com and they’ve been carrying a lot of NASCAR news lately. Another is www.mavtv.com for reruns plus they might also have some snow and ice racing that is currently happening.
- Other places are www.fanschoice.tv, www.speedshifttv.com, www.dirtvision.com, and www.motortrendondemand.com. Please note that all but You Tube are subscription channels.
That’s it for this time. Have a great and safe weekend everyone. See you all next time.
