RENO, NV (April 19) — Well it appears spring might be here as this weekend we’ll warm up. Great time for car meets, cruises, testing and oval track racing
CAR MEETS:
• On Sunday the USO Northern Nevada Car Club gets the weekend rolling with a show and shine to benefit the Agape Church School. Location is 903 Taylor Place in Fallon. Meet runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
• Sunday is when the Kernley Klazzic Kruizers have a cruise from Fernley to the Sonic Burger place in Fallon. It’s the annual Kruizer Al’s Run and goes from 11 to 1 when they reach Fallon.
• Sparks Cars & Coffee has their second meet of the month starting at 10 a.m. As usual it’s by the Starbucks off Disc Drive,
RACING (4-WHEEL):
• Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville will be in action Saturday evening. Racing begins at 7 p.m. and it’s “T-Shirt Toss,” night so the fans will get some shirts.
• To the east Summit Raceway in Elko from 10 until 2 p.m. has a test and tune session as they gear up for their season opening race in early May.
• Battle Mountain Raceway, starting at 10 a.m. also has a Test ‘N’ Tune session on Saturday. They’ll go as long as necessary.
• Over in Quincy, California, the American Valley Speedway from 11 to 4 p.m. Sunday is having a play day where drivers can test their cars and set ups.
• South of Fallon Top Gun Drag Strip is having a basic clean up of the track and facility. Clean up runs both Saturday and Sunday and there is a potluck dinner as well. After this winter they could use the help.
PRACTICE & RACING (MOTOCROSS):
• Fernley Ninetyfivea Speedway has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on the motocross track.
• This weekend BBMX moves over to E Street MX Park for it’s next round. Saturday gates open at 8 a.m., practice is from 9 until 2 then at 4 p.m. there will be a Stacyc Race. Very young riders on electric motorcycles race on a short course.
Sunday is race cay and gates open at 630 a.m. Practice starts at 8 a.m. with racing to follow. Sign ups are open now, for further information please check, www.battlebornmx.com.
• Riverfront MX has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. on Thursday. Then practice for Minis only, from 5 until 10 p.m. Friday. There is practice from 5 until 10 Saturday and the track is closed Sunday.
• Prairie City has open practice Friday from 9 until 2 p.m. while Saturday is a private ride day. Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is open practice.
• MMX will also have practice on the main, sand and kids track from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday. Then on Sunday from 9 until 3 p.m. there is more practice with the Vintage track being added to the mix.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• FOX Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
• Friday is an open day so time to check for other races and highlights. Some of the places to check are www.youtube.com, www.mavtv.com, www.floracing.com and www.speedsport.tv.
• Fox Sports 1 gets Saturday going at 9:30 a.m. when the network broadcasts the ARCA Racing event from Talladega.
- Peacock starts it coverage of the current AMA Supercross round from East Rutherford, New Jersey at 9:30 a.m. Then at 4 p.m. they air the race.
- Over on www.mavtv.com at noon the first Moto America race from Road Atlanta is shown then at 1 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs the Xfinity race from Talladega.
• Sunday begins at 4:30 a.m. on CBS Sports Network when Round 7 of the Formula E series is shown. The series is in Berlin this weekend and at 5:30 a.m. Round 8 will be broadcast.
- Then at noon FOX has the NASCAR Cup race from Talladega Super Speedway. Due to the pack racing there is usually a lot of action during this race, not to mention wrecked cars.
- MAVTV comes back at noon when they broadcast the second Moto America race from Road Atlanta.

Davey covers national series as well as racing in the western United States. His focus is on oval tracks.
