RENO, NV (Nov. 2) — Well fall has arrived and major series are having their championship events. Here at home that are still car meets and even some racing this month as local series end their seasons.
CAR MEETS:
• Saturday the Northern Nevada Camaro Club is hosting an Apple Hill Cruise. First meeting point is at 9 a.m. by Summit Racing in Sparks.
- Then at 10 a.m. next place to meet them is at the Park & Ride in Carson City where Highway 50 and 395 meet. Then at 11 a.m. by the Ralleys in South Lake Tahoe.
• Since the month is starting on Sunday Reno Cars & Coffee is meeting at the Keitzke Starbucks. Things get going at 10 a.m. and there is usually a pretty good selection of cars, trucks and sometimes motorcycles. If it’s on the cool side, well Starbucks has hot chocolate.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTORCYCLES & OFF ROAD):
• This Saturday the MX track at Fernley 95A Motor Sports complex has an interesting event Gates open at 8 a.m. with a riders meeting at 8:45 then practice for the ground listed. This time the youngsters and women get extra track time for practice.
- The facility also has an off-road section and this weekend it’s FUN 45 Poker Run. Things get going with camping and other activities Thursday and Friday.
Saturday is when the run begins after the 8:30 a.m. mandatory riders meeting and open ceremonies. Looks like this is a side-by-side and 4X4 event.
• E Street MX may have practice sessions but its best to check with them first. If they do it will be from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
• Riverfront from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday has its usual night practice. The from 9 until 2 p.m. on all the tracks for Saturday and Sunday.
• Prairie City MX has a private ride day on Friday. Then from 9 until 2 p.m. it’s open practice on Saturday and Sunday.
• David Wolf is having another practice day at MMX racing. Starts at 9 a.m. Sunday.
• For those that ran the 2022 Short Course races at E Street MX Park the awards banquet is on Saturday evening. One can buy tickets online.
• Only one more day to go if one wants to attend this year’s award banquet for the Northern Nevada Kart Cub. Should be a great event inside the museum.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• On Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Fox Sports 2 has NHRA in 30 then at 11:30 a.m. www.floracing.com has the ARCA race from Phoenix. At 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub,
• This is Championship weekend for the top three NASCAR series. On Friday evening at 7 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck series. No only will the series crown its champion but next season the series has a new title sponsor.
– Since we’ll soon we’ll be in the Re-Run Zone. There are a couple of places to check for racing and highlights. One is Floracing as well as www.mavtv.com and www.youtube.com.
• The Xfinity series crowns its champion on Saturday at Phoenix. USA network, starting at 3 p.m. will air the race.
• Sunday is busy and NBC carries the load. The network gets things rolling a 8 a.m. with the MotoGP race from Spain. These are always action packed events with some unbelievable motorcycle riding.
- Only 4 drivers are left in the chase for the NASCAR Cup. At 11 a.m. NBC begins its broadcast of the event on the mile track,
Who ever finishes ahead of the other three will be crowned the champion for 2022. After last week hard to say what’s going to happen and maybe someone will try and run the wall again.
REMINDER: We go back to Standard time Saturday night so be sure to set you clocks back one hour. The first few days are always a bit crazy after that so be safe out there and see you next week.
