RACING PREVIEW: JULY 21 TO 24

RENO, NV (July 20) — Once again the race and car fan has a huge buffet to choose from. There is something for almost any type of fan.

 CAR MEETS & CRUISES:

• Carson City Thursday Night Cruises, starting at 5:30 p.m. will meet at the Carson Mall. Nice way to end a summer’s work day. 

Friday around 5 p.m. is when the weekly cruise in is at Summit Racing Equipment.

• Friday, starting around 5 p.m. is when the weekly Summit Racing Equipment cruise in starts. Nice way to end the work week and the location is on East Glendale in Sparks, by the railroad tracks. 

• Saturday has three events:  

Karson Kruzers are having their 35th annual Run What Cha Brung at Mills Park.

– The first is the Karson Kruzers’ 35th annual Run What Cha Brung car show. Location is at Mills Park with a 8 a.m. start time. 

The 4th annual Summer Bash is for Bikers Against Child Abuse.

      That same day, from noon until 5 p.m., is the 4th Annual Summer Bash. It’s Bikers Against Child Abuse and is at the Blitz Bar & Grill at 400 S. Rock Blvd. in Sparks. 

Verdi Tavern Cruise in is this Saturday.

– To the west of Reno there is the Verdi Tavern Cruise In. Starts at 1 p.m. and is located on old Highway 40 in Verdi.

• Sunday has two events with the first being a meet with Sparks Cars & Coffee. Things start at 10 a.m. by the Starbucks located off Disc Drive. 

Northern Nevada Classics, late Saturday afternoon, has a Shine for Nevadans in Need.

      Saturday afternoon, at the Nevada Marketplace, located on Peckham just west and across the street from the Atlantis Casino. Northern Nevada Classics is hosting the Shine for Nevadans in Need.

Times are from 4 until 9 p.m. and there will be a D.J, and all years, makes and models are welcome. This is to benefit the Care Chest. 

RACING (REGIONAL):

• On Saturday, starting around 8 a.m. there will be another Rally Cross. Location is the road course at 95A Speedway. To get to the road course use the road that goes by the oval and Motocross track.  

It’s Fair Race time at Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California.

• This Sunday Diamond Mountain Speedway ends the Lassen County Fair with races. The action begins at 6 p.m. and should be some pretty good racing. And there will be a demo derby after the races. 

Last year the track lost several dates as the fairgrounds were used as a fire camp. This season they doubled the amount in the spring. As a result their next race won’t be until Halloween. So their fans hopefully will be there Sunday evening. 

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

The motocross track will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

• This weekend the track at Fernley NinetyfiveA Speedway will have practice sessions. Times are 9 until 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. 

The next round of the Norcal and E Street MX SXS racing happens this weekend.

• On Saturday the next round of the E Street Short Track series will happen. This time it’s at Prairie City and will be part of the Norcal Rock Racing but only Side by Sides will race and not Quads. 

      This week E Street MX has practice sessions Saturday and Sunday. Due to the great reception they had last week the times are 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. so everyone can beat the heat. 

There are two days of MX Training Clinic this week.

– And there is more this coming week as there will be MX Clinic Training for 65cc and up riders. Hours are from 9 until 2 p.m. at E Street MX. 

• Prairie City will also have MX practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

REP Racing MX schedule for this weekend.

• It’s race weekend at Riverfront MX Park but on Thursday, from 5 until 10 p.m. there is open practice. The next round of the Saturday Night Series is this week. Gates open at noon, practice starts at 4 p.m. then racing to follow. Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is open practice. 

Round 1 of the 4-race summer series is this Sunday at Club Moto.

• Sunday, at Club Moto is the first round for the 2022 4 Race Summer Series. These events are hosted by the Sierra and Bay chapters of the OTHG. 

• On Sunday MMX Racing, from 9 until 2 will have practice sessions. RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• On Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. Then at 8 p.m. www.mavtv.com airs NASCAR Pace Lap. 

• Friday begins at 9:25 a.m. when www.espn3.com airs Formula1 qualifying from France. Then at 1:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has qualifying for the Camping World Truck series from Pocono. 

At 1:30 p.m. Peacock has Indy Car practice from Iowa. Fox Sports 1 then, at 3:30 p.m. has ARCA racing from Pocono. 

• Saturday gets rolling at 7:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Qualifying Show number 1 from Sonoma. Earlier ESPN 2, at 6:55 a.m. has Formula 1 qualifying from France. 

At 9 a.m. Fox broadcast the Camping World Truck Series race from Pocono then at 11:30 the USA Network has NASCAR Cup qualifying from the same track. NBC and Peacock team up at 1 p.m. for the first Indy Car race from Iowa. At 2 p.m. the USA Network has the Xfinity race from Pocono. 

This year’s SRX series ends Saturday. It will be broadcast live on CBS.

The day ends at 5 p.m. when CBS airs the season ending SRX race from Hartford, Ohio. This year the season was six short track races in as many weeks and this one will be on the dirt. 

• Sunday starts at 5:55 a.m. when ESPN broadcasts the Formula 1 race from France. At 10:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Qualifying show #2 from Sonoma. Then at noon the USA Network has the NASCAR Cup race from Pocono.

Finally, at 1 p.m. Fox has the NHRA Sonoma Nationals live from Sonoma Raceway.   

That’s it for this summer weekend. Be sure to get out to a car meet, or a cruise and, if possible to a race. There is nothing like seeing one live. Have a safe weekend everyone.
