RENO, NV (Feb. 26) — Well February is almost over with and racing is rolling both in our region as well as nationally. A sure sign spring isn’t far away.
CAR MEETS:
• There will be a pair of them on Sunday. First is Sparks Cars & Coffee, which begins at 10 a.m. by Buffalo Wild Wings. Weather should be nice so hoping for a good turn out.
• The second is charity event starting a noon and the location is 199 Damonte Ranch Parkway. The event is presented by Cars & Boba and presented by Bad Habitz Customs.
RACING and PRACTICE (MX & REGIONAL):
• We’ll first look to the south. OTHG South is staging Round 3 of the winter series at Glen Helen on Sunday but online registration ends Thursday.
• E Street MX Park has the Yuba River River Run Hare Scrambles this weekend. It’s a District 36 event that runs Saturday and Sunday.
• MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday on the main, sand and kids tracks. Then on Sunday from 9 until 3 practice on the main, sand and kids while the vintage track is reserved for a OSMX Ride Day.
• REP Racing has a busy weekend. Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Riverfront hosts an Area Qualifier for the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Nationals. Friday has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. The weekend is for racing. Gates open at 6 a.m., practice begins at 8 a.m. with racing to follow. It’s the first step for any rider wanting to race at the summer’s Amateur Nationals.
RACING (NATIONAL):
• Now over to TV Land. On Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs NASCAR Race Hub.
• Friday at 12:40 p.m. Peacock has Indy Car Practice #1 from St. Petersburg, Florida.
• Saturday gets rolling at 6 a.m. when Peacock has Indy Car Practice #2 from Florida. Then at 9:30 a.m. the network airs qualifying for Indy Cars.
Fox Sports 1 at 11 a.m. has NASCAR Cup qualifying and at 2 p.m. the network airs the Xfinity race from Fontana. At 5 p.m. CNBC and Peacock broadcast the Supercross round from Arlington, Texas.
• Peacock starts Sunday at 6:30 a.m. with the Indy Lights race then at 9:30 a.m. NBC has the Indy Car season opener from St. Petersburg.
Over on Fox at 12:30 p.m. it’s the NASCAR Cup race from the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. A very different race from the Daytona 500 which was run a week ago.
Finally the weekend ends at 4 p.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the final rounds from the NHRA Arizona Nationals. Once again the straight line racers will light up the quarter mile.
