OTHER RACING NEWS:

Fernley City Hall where the City Council referred the takeover of the Motocross track, the Sandbox, to staff for a study.

Wednesday night the Fernley City Council met and due to the attendance Mayor Edgington had the discussion about the Fernley Motocross Track moved to the front of the agenda. At this meeting there was no public discussion as the council members discussed and shared their views about referring the matter to the city staff.

While two raised some questions, mainly regarding financing and insurance Mayor Edgington cited the example of the town’s BMX track. It has been a success, that organization maintains the facility and there have been some national championship events held there.

Final vote to refer the matter of the motocross track to staff for study.

Once the motion was discussed to refer it to staff was put to a vote. The result was three for and two against so it will be referred to the staff and hopefully next month be on the agenda.

At that time public comments will be entertained. Hopefully more from the motocross community can attend the meeting.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In northwest Nevada, it can be heard over the air at 1060 AM.
