RENO, NV (Nov. 6) — First and foremost, remember we go off Daylight Savings Time Saturday night. Be sure to set your clocks back then.
This weekend is a bit slim but there are a few events in our region, at least one car meet and something for the two-wheel crowd.
CAR MEETS:
• So far the only meet listed is Sunday’s Reno Cars & Coffee at the Kietzke Starbucks. Times are 10 a.m. until noon and with good weather the turnout should be great.
• Since they tend to have pop up events be sure to check the Face Book page for Carson Cars & Coffee. Nice thing is the gas is less expensive down there.
• For you that have a motorcycle, quad or side-by-side and need to get it registered Reno Area Dirt Riders have you covered on Saturday. They’ll have everything needed to get the process taken care of.
Then there will be a club ride in the Pine Nuts for the dirt bike crowd. A nice way to spend Saturday with fellow riders.
If one had a dirt bike be sure to join RAD, they do a lot of good things plus have these group rides.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• Over at Fernley Ninetyfive A Speedway there will be practices sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. on the new motocross track. Also they’ve completed the 50 track, which I believe is for the youngest riders and it will be available. Should be great weather and dirt, especially after last weekend’s rain.
• Over the hill MMX Racing has its usual weekend practice schedule. On Saturday is from 9 until 2 p.m. for the main, sand and kid tracks then from 9 until 3 on Sunday with the vintage track added to the mix.
• This weekend Prairie City is closed for another event but Riverfront MX has practice from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday then from9 until 2 p.m. Sunday on the main and kid tracks. If it dries out enough the vet track might be included.
• E Street MX Park is the site of the current round for the Battle Born MX series. Gates open Saturday at 8 a.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. there will be practice. Sunday is race day with gates opening at 6 a.m., practice at 8 a.m. with racing to follow.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday gets going on www.espn3.com at 10 a.m. when they broadcast Formula 1 Weekend Preview from Mexico.
+ Then at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub and at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has NHRA in 30. • Friday gets rolling as ESPN 2 has Formula 1 practice first at 10:25 a.m. then at 1:55 p.m. with the second session.
+ Fox Sports at 5 p.m. has the championship race for the Camping World Truck Series from Phoenix. Four drivers are in the hunt and whoever finishes ahead of the other three will get the title.
• Saturday begins on ESPN News at 9:55 a.m. with the final Formula 1 practice then at 1:55 p.m. with qualifying.
+ Later at 5:30 p.m. NBC Sports airs the Xfinity championship race from Phoenix. Like the other series four drivers are in contention for this year’s championship.
• NBC gets Sunday started at 9 a.m. with a delayed broadcast of the MotoGP event from Algrave. Then at 9:30 a.m. ABC has the Formula 1 race from Mexico.
+ Then at noon NBC has the final NASCAR Cup race of the season from Phoenix International Speedway. It’s all on the line for a quartet of drivers, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr. and A.J.Allmendinger. Whoever finishes ahead of the other three will be crowned the champion.
That’s all for this first weekend of November. Enjoy the nice weather we’re getting, be safe and see you next week.
