RACING PREVIEW: OCTOBER 14 TO 17

 RENO, NV (Oct.13) — As racing winds down it’s a bit slim this weekend but there are car meets, a new motocross track opening and still a bunch on TV to watch. Yes fall is here the championships are still to be decided. 

CAR MEETS

This weekend is the final event for Motor Show @ Tahoe.

• Motor Shows  @ Tahoe 2021 gets the weekend rolling with the  three-day South Tahoe “Classic” and Old Car Giveaway. Things should get going around10 a.m. each day and the weather is supposed to be good. 

The location is Heavenly Village@ Gondola and Highway 50. 

• Be sure to check the Carson Cars & Coffee’s page on Face Book as they tend to have pop up events, mainly on Friday and Saturday.

• Sunday, from 10 to noon, is when Reno Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month. The location is the Human Bean, close to the corner of Kietzke and Moana Lane.

Good freeway access to this location and there is usually a big group of cars on display. 

RACING & PRACTICE (Motocross)

• Big news for this area is the reopening of the motocross track at 95 Motorsports Complex in Fernley. There are practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

The track has been redone and now riders have a place to practice close to home. It’s located south of town on Highway 95A. 

MMX Racing schedule for this weekend.

• MMX Racing in Marysville has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday then from 9 until 3 p.m. Sunday. The vintage track is reserved for an OSMX Ride Day. 

• REP Racing MX Also has practice sessions as well as a race this weekend. At Riverfront MX there is practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday on all the tracks.

Prairie City from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday is reserved for a Sierra Old Timers ride day. It’s open practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on Sunday. This Sunday is Round 3 of the REP Fall Series. The location is at E Street MX Park.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL): 

• Thursday has two shows as Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. airs NASCAR Race Hub. Then Fox Sports 2 at 5 p.m. has NHRA in 30. 

• Friday has Fox Sports 1 showing the NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from Thunder Valley. 

• Saturday is when NBC, at noon, has the Xfinity race from Texas.

• For you staying home Madera Speedway is having its final live feed of the season. It’s the Triple Turkey Open and while it will be shown on www.mavtv.com event will be shown live on Short Track TV, which can be found on www.youtube.com

There will be four classes racing on the 1/3rd mile paved oval. The action begins at 5 p.m. and, if previous shows are any indication, should be a great night of racing.

• Sunday is when NBC and Peacock at 11 a.m. has the NASCAR Cup race from Texas. It’s another elimination race with our drivers above the cut while four others are on the bubble. Should be a wild event and probably the last big oval they race on this year.

Over on Fox Sports 1 at 10 a.m. there is the Qualifying Show #2 then at 11 a.m. the network airs the final rounds for the Thunder Valley Nationals from Bristol, Tennessee. Once again it’s vital for all the drivers going for a division championship. 

Finally at 3:30 p.m. the day ends when NBC Sports has the World Superbike race from Argentina.
