• For those competing with the Best in the Desert series it’s going to be a busy month. This weekend is the UTV Championship race for double points. Starting tomorrow there will be a live feed on Face Book and www.mavtv.com will televise the event; don’t know if it will be live or on a delayed basis.
The points are very close in the Pro UTV class so could get shuffled this weekend. On Friday there is an Open Expo at the Tropicana Hotel in Laughlin where one can see the UTVs and meet the drivers.
Registration is open for the next event at the end of the months. That event is for trucks and buggies.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTORCYCLES):
• Biggest event is on Saturday when the Hangtown Motocross Classic is held at Prairie City, outside of Placerville, California. Unlike other years, when this event starts the series, this time it is the ending event for the Lucas Oil Promotocross schedule. It’s the last chance to see these motocross starts before next year’s Supercross series begins. For further information please check, www.hangtownmx.com.
• MMX Racing is scheduled to have its final Short Track race Saturday starting at 5 p.m. I believe the practice sessions are still a go and that would be from 9 until 2 p.m. on the main, sand and kid tracks. On Sunday times are 9 to 3 p.m. with the vintage track added to the mix.
• REP Racing had not updated their hotline when this article was posted. Best advice would be to call at, 1-775-265-7223 or check the website at, www.repracingmx.com.
• Battle Born MX starts the fall part of its season this weekend. Saturday is for practice and around 9 a.m. Sunday, after a short practice session is when the first gate is expected to drop.
This event is in Winnemuca. Due to a problem, which everyone hopes gets solved soon, all the fall Fernley events have been moved to there.
• This Sunday RAD (Reno Area Dirt Riders) are having their 3rd annual Scavenger Hunt in the Peavine Maze. If you have a dirt bike it’s a great organization to belong to. Good people, fun events like this, group rides and they also do a lot of clean up on trails and open roads in our area.
