• For those wanting to compete in this week’s MRANN season opener the time to preregister ends Thursday, today if you get this preview on the 11th. It’s time to step up and get ready for fun in the dirt, and maybe some mud as well as snow.

Sparks Cars and Coffee is by the Buffalo Wild Wings, which is close to the Sparks Target. Carson Cars & Coffee will also meet at the Dutch Brothers coffee stand. Both events are a great way to see different cars as well as meet car people.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• Once again the Trail Blazers Motorcycle Club kicks off the 2021 MRANN racing season with the “Make Racing Great Again 100,” event. It is the 23rd annual Hare & House held north of the Nightingale exit off I-80.

This weekend local racing begins with MRANN’s first event. It’s time to rock.

As is usual Saturday gets rolling with the Pee Wee racers followed by a race that combines V Women, Vintage, Bombers and Mini Bikes, which is the youngsters moving their way to the big bikes. All the races are on a short course.

Sunday is the day when the big bikes take to the course. In order to be classed as a finisher a rider must complete one lap. The banner drops right around 10 a.m. and sends each class off at intervals.

PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• Weather is expected in Northern California this weekend but as of this posting MMX Racing is planning on two practice sessions. One wants to double check before heading out however and the hotline is 530-777-9724.

Saturday’s usually runs from 9 until 2 then from 9 until 3 on Sunday. One of the tracks open is for the kids so the youngsters can also have practice.

• Checking in with REP racing the practice slated for Riverfront on Thursday has been canceled. Zeb mentioned he’ll have an update on the hotline later on Thursday.

The hot line is 1-775-265-7223. Right now he wants to have weekend practice but that will depend on how much rain the area gets from the incoming storms.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL)

• The focus this week is on Daytona International Speedway as NASCAR opens its season. When the article was written qualifying for the 500 was completed but that only sets the front row.

• Thursday’s action is the NASCAR Cup – the Duels. Action begins at 4 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 where drivers will run in one of the races as they qualified.

Odd drivers race in one while the even drivers race in the others. These two set the field for Sunday’s 500.

• Saturday is a busy day starting at 2 a.m. when www.motortrendondemand.com airs race number 1 when the Asian LeMans series is at Dubai.

Back to Fox Sports 1 and Daytona as at 10:30 a.m. the ARCA series takes to the high banks at Daytona followed at 2 p.m. when the Xfinity series races on the oval.
