RENO, NV (Jan. 20) – This week’s Racing Preview puts one foot back into the Re-Run Zone as it’s a bit calmer than last weekend. However there is still racing and more to come.
CAR MEETS:
• This weekend there are car two meets with both starting at 10 a.m. and running for two hours.
+ Sparks Cars & Coffee will be by Buffalo Wild Wings not far from the Target Store.
+ Carson Cars & Coffee will assemble for their meet by the Dutch Brothers stand on the south end of town.
Both meets are a great way to meet fellow car people and see a wide variety of cars. It usually runs from exotic to ordinary with a whole bunch in between and you get to meet some nice folks.
RACING AND PRACTICE (MOTORCYLES):
• There is a flat track series that includes both a rider’s school, practice and racing. It’s at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placervill, Calif.
It’s the Hangtown Barn Burner Series and I missed the first couple of events. The next one is this Saturday and they usually happen on Saturdays.
• Sunday the 24th is when MMX hosts the second round of this year’s 2021 Frigid 6 series. I believe there will be practice Saturday from 9 until 2 p.m. For further information please check the website at www.mmxracing.com.
• REP Racing will also be hosting practice sessions at their three tracks. However they ask to check on Sunday, a storm is expected but it’s supposed to come in late.
+ E Street MX Park – Practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
+ Riverfront – Thursday practice from 4 until 9 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.
+ Prairie City – Practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Must sign up on line and some spectators are being allowed. The site is www.repracingmx.com.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• Once again www.mavtv.com is doing a lot of heavy lifting this weekend. And with two exceptions we’re back into the Re-Run Zone.
• Thursday, on mavtv, gets started at 1 p.m. with Pro Motocross at Red Bud this past summer. Then at 3 p.m. it’s MotoAmerica Race Day from Monterey.
Next at 4 p.m. is Speed Sport follow by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
• Friday starts at 1 p.m. with FIA Karting from Genk, Belgium followed at 1:30 by Monster Trucks. Then at 2 p.m. they show an Ultimate Karting Championship event and finally, at 3 p.m. Arenacross.
• Saturday at noon mavtv begins a marathon of Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series events from last year.
Then at 5 p.m. Supercross comes back on with Houston 3 as they battle over the dirt and through the sand. It can be seen on NBC Sports Network or Peacock. After the race www.youtube.com has some pretty good highlight videos from the event.
REPORTER’S NOTE: I failed to see in the schedule that Houston 2 was actually Tuesday and not this coming Saturday. Sorry.
• Sunday we go back to live action as NBC Sports at 1:30 p.m. has qualifying for next week’s IMSA Weathertech Sports Championship or the Rolex 24 Hour race. That really gets things rolling as we head for NASCAR Speedweeks and the Daytona 500.
Over on mavtv they have a series of races throughout the day and afternoon.
OTHER RACING NEWS:
• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. We now have a more powerful signal at 1060 AM.
