• There are two car meets this weekend and both start about 10 a.m. Sunday morning, January 10.

Sparks Cars & Coffee will host its first meet of the month by Buffalo Wild Wings not far from the Target Store.

To the south at Dutch Brothers coffee stand Carson Cars & Coffee will hold its first meet of the month. Both are a great way to meet fellow car people not to mention seeing some interesting cars and trucks.

PRACTICE & RACING (MOTOCROSS):

• Motocross racing begins Sunday as Round 1 of the 2021 Frigid 6 series begins at the Argyll motocross track. For further information check the track’s website at www.argyllmx.com.

• Closer to home MMX Racing has two practice days this weekend. Saturday its from 9 until 2 p.m. then 9 until 3 p.m. on Sunday. Still a good idea to check with their hotline before heading out and that number is 530-777-9724.

• As of when this was posted REP Racing’s hot line only listed Thursday practice at Riverfront, from 5 until 10 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Due to an incoming storm there were no practice times listed for Prairie City or E Street. Once again it’s best to call the hotline at 1-775-265-7223 for an update before packing and head to the track.

• The last week in January is when King of the Hammers event happens. It’s a wild event and runs from January 28 until February 6th.

• January also ends with the Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona. This twice around the clock event runs from January 30 to 31. It also signals the start of NASCAR’s Speed Weeks at Daytona.

•  The Dakar Rally is an ongoing event through next week and while I’m listing the recaps on NBC Sports there are other ways to see it.

One way is at www.youtube.com where they have recaps for all the classes and another is www.avpulse.com as well as a print recap of moto standings with cycle news. The Face Book page for the Virginia City Grand Prix also has other sources and I was told that Instagram might also have results.

Among the programs starting at 1 p.m. if a Pro Motocross round then at 3 p.m. the yair MotoAmerica Race day and at 4 p.m. have a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race.
