RENO, NV (Oct. 21) – Racing Preview this week has a bunch of car meeets plus local, regional, national and international events on tap. As we head into November there will be a flurry of events as the racing year ends and we head back into the Rerun Zone.
CAR MEEETS/CRUISING:
• Saturday is a big day for car people with several events on tap. The day starts with the 6th annual Iron Rebels Car Show.
Location is Shelton Racing and Fabrication in Carson City. This annual charity event had proceeds going to the Kennedy family as they remember Brian, who they lost.
+ That same morning at the Fernley Raceway there is a Halloween Car Show. The location is the road course and one uses the access road for the oval but continue until the road course parking lot is reached. While no starting time was posted things should be rolling by 9 a.m.
+ If one is hungry there is another event in Sun Valley starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Super Carniceria is celebrating its grand opening and are welcome. One incentive is that there are also free tacos.
+ The day ends a Trunk or Treat event at the Reno Town Mall. Things begin with a cruise in and there will be games, prizes as well as spooky music.
It’s a free event so all makes and models are welcome. The kid’s games begin at 6:30 with Trunk or Treat at 7:30.
• Sunday gets off to an early start as Carson Cars and Coffee has a meet at Dutch Brothers on the south end of town. Things begin at 9 a.m. and they ask everyone to please pick up their trash. Apparently someone didn’t during one of the evening meets so the group can only meet there during the daytime.
+ Another early meet will honor the memory of a well known tuner that passed away last week. The meet up place is the Dunkin’ Donuts at 8:30 then a cruise to the Fernley Speedway’s road course.
+ The weekend ends in Fernley as Reno, Sparks, Fernley Cars & Pizza has a meet. The location is in front of the Fernley Round Table Pizze and runs from 5 until 8 p.m.
They ask people to decorate their trunks and bring candy for the kids.
Everyone needs to remember it is supposed to be much cooler this weekend so be sure to bring warm clothes.
RACING (REGIONAL):
• It’s all two-wheel action this weekend. Close to home Battle Born MX and the Reno chapter of the Over The Hill Gang are hosting a race at the Sandbox in Fernley.
Saturday’s practice is from 9 until 2 p.m. while the first gate is supposed to drop around 9 a.m. on Sunday. One big change is that racers need to register on line or there will be an extra charge if one registers at the gate. There is a link on the BBMX Facebook page.
Another change is how everyone needs to act while at the event. Masks are mandatory as is social distancing. Apparently it will be watched so let’s not ruin it for the series.
+ Over the hill the 2020 Triple Crown MX begins Sunday at the Argyll MX track located not too far from San Jose.
+The biggest race is the AMA District 36 European Scrambles held at the MMX Racing track in Marysville. It’s a two-day even with a full schedule of races and classes.
+ REP Racing MX will also be holding practice sessions on its tracks.
# E Street MX Park: Practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
# Riverfront has Thursday practice from 5 until l0 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.
