DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY: JULY 4TH

SUSANVILLE, CA (July 4) – Celebrating Independence Day the Diamond Mountain Speedway hosted two-days of racing. Saturday’s action ended with a huge fireworks show above the track.

Nick Trenchor celebrates after winning the July 4th IMCA Modified main.

After climbing to the top of his car as he celebrated his A Mod victory, winner NickTrenchor, from Klamath Falls, Oregon climbed down into a flurry of hugs and congratulations from family and other drivers.

Finally he took a breath and said, “I had to work for that one going through lap traffic. The top was really good and the bottom was really good so I was just kind of running my own race. When that 28 car showed me a nose I said, “Well shoot, better get up on the wheel,'”

Then he thanked his family, wife, Rich and Nikki Bean as well as sponsors Nature’s Images, Hoppes Motorsports, AG Auto Repair, Swift Machines plus more.

It took four heats and a B main, won by Wade Kennemore, to finally set the A Mod field for their feature race. But before the main the 19-car field did several parade laps with one car carring the American flag while the other had a Trmp 2020 flag.

Before they started their main, the IMCA A Mod drivers did parade laps to salute the crowd and celebrate Independence Day.

Finally the cars got in order and were sent off to their 30-lap main event. On point was Scott Foreman with Cory Sample right behind him.

Soon after that Danny Lauer took the point then Sample used an outside pass to grab the point. Then things slowed for a caution.

Eventual A Mod winner Nick Trenchor chases Danny Lauer in the IMCA A main.

By then Trenchor had taken over second and shortly after the green waved again he was on point. Foreman had car problems and spent several laps on the infield before he could get back to the pits.

Then the battle for the lead was between Trenchor and Trevor Fitz. They swapped the leads a few times while lapping slower traffic.

Then with four to go there was another caution and on the green Trenchor took off with Ran McDaniel and Sample giving chase. They would finish in that order with Riley Simmons ending up fourth ahead of fifth place Shawn Natenstedt.

When the 14-car Sport Mod field took the green up front Timothy Allerdinys and Colton Chew briefly ran side-by-side. Then Chew took the point just before a caution slowed the pace.

After racing resumed Chew extended his lead as  with Jimmy Ray Huffman taking over second followed by T. Foux, driving his son’s car and Craig Nieman.

Leader T.Foux was chased by runner up Timothy Allerdinys in the Sport Mod main.

There would be another caution that bunched the cars and when the green waved again Foux would grab the lead only to be slowed after another caution.

Three more cautions kept the cars bunched and also insured the leaders wouldn’t catch lap traffic. Foux won the race followed by Timothy Allerdinys, who tried but had to settle for second ahead of Nieman and Huffman.

Driving his son’s car T. Foux takes the checkered flag and wins the Sport Mod main.

After the race Foux, racing his son’s car called him. Apparently his son didn’t believe he won so there was a phone picture taken and sent back to Red Bluff, California.

Then Foux said, “I love this track as we started coming her about three races ago. We normally race up and down the west coast but this is our first time out here. My son Justin is normally the driver but he decided to take the weekend off.”

Then he thanked Shane Devoter for the shock package, FRE, Foux Racing Equipment, Cheetah Chasis, California Hair Cuts, Red Bluff Fasteners and others.

There were only three classes racing on the 4th and the Stock Car field had 18 that took the green for their 20-Lap main event. The first row was Dan Dias and Jeff Marson, who soon claimed the point.

In the Stock Car main Jeff Marson chases Dan Dias.

Just as the leaders were catching lap traffic there was a caution. When the green waved again Marson took off with Randy Boyd giving chase.

Runner up Randy Boyd chases stock winner Jeff Marson.

There would be two more cautions but on every restart Marson would get the better of Boyd. The would finish in that order with Keith Marson ending up third ahead of fourth place Dias.

Jeff Marson takes the checkered flag as he wins the Stock Car main.

After the racing ended several teams packed up their trailers as they had to be moved. Then everyone settled back to the spectacular fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day, July 4th.

Right after the races there was a fireworks show to celebrate the 4th of July.

• On Friday four classes raced at the track. Shawn Natenstedt won the A Mod B main while the A Main was won by Nein Kennemore and the Sport Mod winner was Craig Nieman.

The Stock class had a fast dash won by Keith Morson while the A main winner was John “Porkshop” Johnson. In the Mini Stock class Nick Boucher won both the Fast Dash and A Main.
