RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 11 TO 14

RENO, NV (June 10) – Racing Preview for this weekend has more events plus car meets. As the weather warms up and the lock down eases there is more to do and see.

CAR MEETS:

• Once again the Friday cruise in Fernley that begins at 7 p.m. by the Wigwam. The route goes east, circles the round about and returns. I’m told people line the streets to see this. Great way to show off a person’s car and just have a good time.

• Up at Lake Tahoe by the Hard Rock Café and Casino the Aces High Rally and Car show happens on Saturday. The show runs from 8 until 5 p.m. and should be a good time for all although a bit cooler.

• Sparks Cars & Coffee hosts it’s monthly meet Sunday Buffalo Wild Wings. It’s a 9 a.m. start and the meet is located by the Sparks Target.

• There is a cruise every Tuesday evening at the South Meadows Parkway Steak N’ Shake. The time is from 5 until 9 p.m. with award, prizes and music.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• The biggest racing event in our area begins Friday when Top Gun Drag Strip hosts a round of the Pacific National Open Series. Friday starting at noon is a test and tune session.

Saturday, while qualifying begins at 10 a.m. the elimination runs start at 1 p.m. Sunday things get going earlier with single pass time trials beginning at 8:30 a.m. followed by eliminations starting at 11. Should be a great weekend and spectators are welcome.

• To the east Winnemucca Regional Raceway hosts another race with the action beginning at 7 p.m.

• Saturday has an oval track double header. 95 Motor Sports Complex get things rolling as the pit gates open at 8 a.m. with racing beginning at 11 a.m. Once again spectators are welcome at this daytime race.

• To the north in Susanville Diamond Mountain Speedway begins its season. While there will be no concessions spectators are welcome.

Gates to the grandstand open at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 7 p.m. Should be a good show to get this track rolling.

RACING (MOTOCROSS):

• The next round of Supercross starts at 4 p.m. Sunday and be shown on NBC Gold or NBC Sports. One can see highlights later on www.youtube.com.

• Once again 95 Motor Sport Complex has practice sessions at is motocross track from 2 until 7 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

• Here are the practice time for the Rep Racing tracks in Northern California. Currently there is no approval to open the Prairie City track but one might want to check the website at www.repracingmx.com just in case there is late word on that.

It’s also a good idea to register on line before going. They may still have restrictions on how many can be at each track. The website is www.repracingmx.com.

     + Riverfront – Thursday practice from 5 until 10 p.m. then from 9 until 2      p.m. Sunday.

     + E Street – practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL):

• After the NASCAR Cup series raced Wednesday at Martinsville the show moved to the Miami area for a triple header at Homestead.

• Saturday two series will be in action. The Xfinity race will be shown on Fox starting at 12:30 then Fox Sports 1 takes over with a 4:30 start to the Gander TV & Outdoors Truck series.

• Sunday is the big day as, starting at 12:30 the NASCAR Cup takes to the track for their next round. The race will be broadcast on FOX.

That’s it for this weekend so be sure to get out to either the car meets, cruises or racing. Be safe and see you next week.

OTHER RACING NEWS:

• The race originally scheduled this Saturday at Rattlesnake Raceway has been canceled. Their next event is the traditional 4th of July races. That’s also the site of Fallon’s 4th of July fireworks show.

• Last week this reporter learned that Lovelock Speedway will probably only have one race this season. It will be the traditional two-day Frontier Day races at the very end of July.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show will be on from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The show covers all things automotive plus trends and trivia.
