THE WAIT IS OVER, LOCAL RACING IS STARTING

RENO, NV (Feb. 9) — The Super Bowl is a signal that racing is about to start again. As usual off-road and motocross will get the season rolling followed by oval track and drag racing.

Tumbler 100, presented by the Trailer Blazers starts the MRANN season.

• Next week MRANN starts its 2025 racing season north of the Nightingale Exit off I-80, that’s east of Fernley by the geothermal facility.

Here is the 2025 MRANN Schedule.

Right now there are eight rounds slated for this year.

Only a couple of weeks before the Legacy Racing Association begins its season.

Then two weeks from now Legacy Racing hosts its season opening off-road race the Parker Dam 500. While this race is actually not in Nevada most Legacy events are.

And there are changes coming to this season.

Royce Goetz has been racing in Hobby Stocks since 2005 but now is making a big change. He’s bringing Outlaw Karts back to Rattlesnake Raceway.

Had a chance to ask him about this and he said,  “My kids are actively in it. Track manager Krystle Mccart Gilmore wanted to get it going.”

Long time racer Royce Goetz is bringing an enhanced Outlaw Kart season to Rattlesnake Raceway.

He added, “We mirrored the rules from Red Bluff so we can offer locals a shorter trip than going over the hill. We will run Beginner Box Stock, Box Stock, Intermediate, Cage Clone and 500, which we’ll call Open. These are the same classes that raced in the High Desert Hustle.

He said there was a meeting with a pretty good turn out. The plan is to create a track like the one used in this fall’s High Desert Hustle. That is about 200 feet apex to apex and 25 feet wide.

Goetz said Rattlesnake will put a bunch of clay into the surface but right now it looks like a construction mess. Still in the end should be a good track.

Rattlesnake Raceway is adding more to the annual Octanefest.

This season Rattlesnake Raceway is adding a new group to the annual Octanefest that includes the West Coast Sport Compacts as well as the usual classes. The track opens the 2025 season on the weekend of April 18/29, a Friday-Saturday show.

Now we know spring and more racing is on the way. Soon the other series will also be going as green flags fill the air.
