RENO, NV (Jan. 15) — Let’s see car meets this weekend, motocross practice and an off-road series starting to our south. Not to mention highlights and two series going, one over seas and one in the U.S.
CAR MEETS:
• As usual the Iron Mafia gets the weekend rolling with its Thursday morning meet at Kim’s Donut and Tea House. Starts at 8 a.m. and the location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.
• There will be two car meets this Sunday and both have a 10 a.m. starting time.
- Reno Jeeps & Coffee meets at the Human Bean Coffee Stand located at the corner of Longley Land and South McCarran.
- Reno Cars & Coffee meets by the Human Bean Coffee Stand located close to the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes
RACING (4-Wheel)
• Nothing in our region yet however if one is going to be on a pit crew for next week’s Legacy event, the Parker Dam 500, the waivers are online now. The website is www.legacyracing.net.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• REP Racing will have practice sessions at its three tracks.
- Riverfront MX has Thursday practice from 4 until 9 p.m. then from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday.
- Prairie City MX has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
- The Sandbox at Fernley has open practice from 10 until 3 p.m. Sunday. One might have to register for this and the site is, www.repracingmx.com.
• E Street MX Park hosts round one of this year’s P.R.O. Motocross Frigid 8 Winter Series.
- Here is the schedule for this event and where one needs to go to register online.
• MMX Racing has a full schedule for the weekend but on Sunday it will be a ride day for OSMX on the Vintage track.
• If one is free Saturday, the DTS MC Nevada is having a fund raiser to help with medical expenses for a little girl. Its at the VFW Bunker located at 255 Historic Lane in Reno, about a block west of the Atlantis Casino.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday, at 4 p.m. www.mavtv.com will air Round 11 of the Dakar Rally from Saudi Arabia. Then at 5 p.m. Peacock will broadcast that same round.
– Over in Tusla the Chili Bowl Nationals are being run. They’re doing a series of races to see who will be in the finals. One can see them live on www.floracing.com.
• Friday starting at 4 p.m. is when mavtv airs Round 12 from the Dakar Rally. And www.Floracing.com has more from the Chili Bowl Nationals.
• Saturday begins at noon when the Peacock network airs Raceday Live. Then at 5:30 p.m. they broadcast Round 2 of this year’s AMA Supercross series from San Diego.
• Later that afternoon, at 4 p.m., mavtv will air the final rounds from the Dakar Rally.
• Saturday is when www.floracing.com will air the full schedule leading up to the finals at the Chili Bowl Nationals. The prize every driver is racing for is the Golden Driller Trophy.
• Sunday is empty but if one isn’t watching the playoffs or after those one can still see highlights.
REPORTER’S NOTE: If one is unable to watch either the Dakar Rally or Chili Bowl Nationals you can watch highlights from both events. Over on www.youtube.com they had long and shot highlights from Dakar as well as heats and mains from the Chili Bowl Nationals.

• This year Hot August Nights has a major venue change. Rather than the Grand Sierra the big show, with entertainment is moving to the UNR Campus. However the start of the festival is remaining at Virginia City.
• A little over a week from now Battle Born Motocross is having its Annual Awards Banquet to honor the champions from the 2024 season One needs to sign up in advance and it’s usually a great time for all.
• Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.
He also posts schedules for various tracks and there related subjects.
