RACING ARTICLE: DEC. 29 TO JAN. 3, 2025

RENO, NV (Dec. 29) — As the old year is about to be replaced with 2025, the New Year we’re still in the Re-Run Zone but that will soon end. In fact the Old Year goes out with a bang as a local racing event welcomes the New Year.

As a result this article is on the short side and more of a preview piece. But next week this all changes.

CAR MEETS:

This week’s Iron Mafia meet has been moved to Friday morning.

• Last week I was told the Iron Mafia moved it’s Thursday morning meet to 8 a.m. Friday. The location is Kim’s Donut and Tea House located at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

RACING (LOCAL):

The year ends and the new one begins with the High Desert Hustle 2025.

• This week the High Desert Hustle 2025 ends the year and starts the New Year. Location is the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center and the event runs from Monday, December 30 to January 2, 2025.

Payouts for classes in the High Desert Hustle 2025.

All the classes will receive money to start and the winner gets the biggest amount. The Open Class A main on Thursday has the racers competing for the $10,000 winner’s prize.

Here is the week’s schedule. Should be a wild four days inside the Livestock Events Center.

By Sunday the banked track was built and being groomed Sunday afternoon.

This year the track has banking and on Sunday afternoon the crew was grooming the surface.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL)

New Year’s Eve is when the Tulsa Shootout for micro sprints kicks off.

• On Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, the Tulsa Shootout for Micro Sprints starts in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event runs until Saturday, January 4th and is a prelude to the Chili Bowl Nationals as they use the same track.

• On January 2, www.mavtv.com will show the Dakar Rally Preview. The event begins on Friday, January 3 and is held in Saudi Arabia.
