RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: DEC. 5 TO 8

RENO, NV (Dec. 4) — Well here we are heading into December. While TV is going into the Re-Run Zone there are still car meets, toy runs and tree lightings as well as parades where cars are included. So here we go.

CAR MEETS:

The Iron Mafia starts Thursday rolling early.

• As usual the Iron Mafia gets the weekend rolling starting at 8 a.m. Thursday at Kim’s Donut and Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

The annual North Pole Village is in Sparks Thursday through Saturday.

• Thursday, Friday and Saturday is the annual North Pole Village. Location is across the street from the Sparks Nugget and there are all kinds of displays, live music and photos with Santa.

Sparks Christmas Tree is lit Friday evening.
  • Friday around 6:30 is when the Sparks Christmas Tree will be lit.
Fallon’s Christmas tree will be decorated and lit this Friday.
  • To the east around that same time Fallon will light its Christmas Tree. It’s a festival on Main Street where it intersects the Reno Highway.
The Silver & Snowflake festival of lights is when they light the Nevada State Tree by the Capitol.
  • Down in Carson City there’s the festival of lights and I believe there might be cars involved. Starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Carson City Capitol Grounds and they light the Nevada Christmas Tree during the festival.
This year the Sparks Hometowne Christmas parade celebrates a Cowboy Christmas.

• Saturday is also a busy day. Starting at 1 p.m. Sparks has its Hometowne Christmas Parade. Theme this year is a Cowboy Christmas and classic cars are part of the parade. Put on your western gear and enjoy the fun.

Saturday is when Fernley has its Christmas parade and lights the town’s Christmas Tree.

• To the east Fernley is having a celebration with a parade starting at 5 p.m. then the city’s Christmas tree is lit at 6:30 p.m.

It’s Cookies and pictures with Santa at Reno Harley-Davidson on Saturday.

• Here in Reno they are getting prepared for the annual Toy Run. Location is Reno Harley Davidson located by the freeway on Market Street.

Sunday is when thew 44th Annual Toy Run happens. Starting location is Reno Harley-Davisdon.

• On Sunday there is the 44th Annual Reno Toy Run, the starting place is Reno Harley-Davison located at 2315 Market Street. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with kickstands up at noon and the run is led by Santa Clause. All types of motorcycles are welcome.

• That same morning, starting at 10 a.m., Sparks Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month. Location is the Starbucks off Disc Drive off Pyramid.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

• While racing is shut down in our area there are other places to see it, especially on the Internet. You can try, www.mavtv.com, as they some times have races in other areas.

Other places are www.dirtvision.com, www.floracing.com, www.motortrendondemand.com and www.youtube.com. While most will be reruns there are some live events as well.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

REP Racing MS has practice at all three of its tracks this weekend.

• This week REP Racing has practice at all of its three tracks. This includes Sunday practice at the Sandbox from 9 until 2 p.m.

MMX Racing has practice this weekend.

• MMX Racing has practice Saturday from 9 until 2 p.m. on the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. Sunday’s practice is from 9 until 3 p.m. and they add the Vintage track into the mix.

E Street MX Park has practice Saturday then Sunday is an OTHG Sierra Ride Day & Toy Drive.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturay. Then Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m, it’s a Ride Day Toy Drive for OTHG Sierra.

RACING (INTERNAIONAL):

• Thursday at 5 p.m. MAVTV airs the 2024 Supercars Championship. This Australian series has some wild racing. One can also see the events on You Tube.

• Friday is empty so check the other sites I listed earlier.

• Saturday at 5:54 a.m. ESPN broadcasts Formula 1 qualifying from Abu Dahbi.

• Sunday at 3:30 a.m. ESPN2 has the Pre-Race show then at 4:55 a.m. the network broadcasts the final Formula 1 race of this season from Abu Dahbi.
