RENO, NV (Nov. 6) — As the days are getting shorter racing is ending and on TV we’ll soon be in the Rerun Zone. However don’t dispair as there are plenty of car meets to visit and enjoy and still some racing to come.
CAR MEETS:
• Once again the Iron Mafia starts the weekend at 8 a.m. Thursday morning, Location is Kim’s Donut and Tea House at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.
• Down in Carson City there is a cruise from 6 until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Location is The White House NV at 402 E. Telegraph Street.
- To the east the Friday Night Meet in Fernley happens. It begins at 6 p.m. and the location is the 76th Station.
• Since its the second Saturday of the month the Vintage Euro Cars and Coffee is meeting. The meet runs from 9 until 11 a.m. and location is near Starbucks at the Summit Mall. They also have a Face Book page under Nevada Vintage Euro.
• Sunday has three groups meeting.
- Sparks Cars & Coffee meets, starting at 10 a.m., by the Starbucks on Disc Drive. Take Pyramid north, go over the hill after McCarren then turn right at the signal, which is Disc Drive.
- Classic Car Show is having a Show & Shine starting at noon, on Sunday. Location is at the Final Draught located at 5318 Sparks Blvd.
- Representatives from all car clubs are invited the Nevada Car Coalition’s 2025 Calendar Planning Meeting. The goal is to set shows so they don’t conflict. Times at 1 to 3 p.m. at the National Auto Museum.
• The week, starting on Thursday is the annual Fern 45, held at the Fernley 95A Speedway. The event benefits veterans and Saturday, starting in the morning is the annual Off Road Poker Run.

- RACING (4-WHEEL):
• While oval track racing has ended for the year in our region there is actually two post season events.
- Saturday at 5 p.m. Rattlesnake Raceway hosts its Awards Banquet at the Eagles Hall located at 7977 Reno Highway. It’s west of downtown and away from the commercial section.
- That same night, starting at 6 p.m. the Tonopah Speedway hosts it 2024 awards banquet. Location is at the Tonopah Station.
PRACTICE & RACING (MOTOCROSS):
• REP Racing has practice sessions at two of its tracks; Riverfront MX and PCMX this weekend. The Sandbox at Fernley hosts racing.
- Battle Born MX ends its 2024 season at the SandBox MX in Fernley. Saturday is practice and at the end is the popular Stacyc race for the youngest riders. Then Sunday is race day so if possible save some time and preregister.
- E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on the front and back tracks.
- MMX also has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday using the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. Then Sunday from 9 until 3 with the Vintage track added to the mix.
- Oatfield Raceway hosts the next round of the 2024 AMP Triple Crown series. Friday is for camping while Saturday and Sunday are race days.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
Note: NASCAR is having its championship weekend at Phoenix this weekend. I’m going to post the full schedule then note the highlights each day.
• Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour. It’s a repeat with Tony Stewart, who is leaving NASCAR after this weekend. Could be interesting,
- Not being broadcast that day are the Craftsman Truck Series practice at 4 p.m. as well as the Menard’s West Coast series practice at 5 p.m. and qualifying at 6:20 in the evening.
• Friday’s racing starts at 10:30 a.m. when www.floracing.com broadcasts the Menard’s Diamond Casino West Valley 100. Then at 1:04 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has Craftsman Trucks qualifying.
- The USA network comes on and shows Xfinity and NASCAR Cup practice at 5:05 then at 6:05 p.m. Then Fox Sports 1 airs the Craftsman Truck Series race that determines the 2024 series champion.
• Saturday begins at 1 p.m. when USA network shows Xfinity qualifying. Then at 2 p.m. the network has NASCAR Cup qualifying, The day ends when The CW airs the Xfinity race that determine that series 2024 champion.
• Sunday is the big day when the NASCAR Cup 2024 champion will be named but that driver has to finish ahead of the other three in the final four. The race itself is shown on NBC and considering the last event might be a wild time there.

• Next week SCORE International stages the 57th Annual Baja 100. Qualifying registration starts on Monday and rolls through the week with Friday is race day and Saturday is when the awards are handed out.
- It’s a tough off-road race that covers a variety of terrain. Drivers usually are in teams with co-drivers so they switch off at pit stops and the crews move south during the night and day. All types of vehicles and motorcycles race in this classic event and you can check live scoring at, www.score-international.com.
• Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.
He recently started his broadcasts so check Face Book around 6 p.m. Wednesday. He also posts during the week.
