RENO CARS & COFFEE MEETS

RENO, NV (Aug. 18) — As summer winds down Reno Cars & Coffee had its second meet of the month. Good weather meant a decent turn out of cars and trucks by the Human Bean Coffee stand by the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes.

The smallest car on display was this remote control one that was scooting around the parking lot.

One thing at any Cars & Coffee meet is a variety of cars and trucks. In fact one on display was this remote control one that was scooting around the area.

This C8R Corvette was on display and is owned by Skip Hosler.

Another interesting one, full size, is a Corvette owned by Skip Hosler and is one of a few he owns. This one had some interesting strips and decals on it.

“This is a 2022 C8R and is one of a thousand seven built in 2022, its number 294. They did 350 hard top coupes in gray,” he said. “All the grays are number 4 and all the yellow ones are number 3.

When Skip Hosler bought this C8R it came with a center strip and interior. So he found and added the other decals, trim items and labels.

“But when you order this car as a C8R with a $7,000 option all you got was an interior and the center strip butnothing else to match a C8R. So when I got a hold of it it was like, ‘you know what lets make it look like a C8R is supposed to look.’ So as best as I could, found the correct decals and stuff, that’s how you see it now.”

He was able to find almost all the proper decals and logos for this type of car. Asked if he did anything else to it his answer was, “It’s all bone stock. I don’t modify Corvettes.”

The one at the meet was only one from his collection.

“I have 2 C8’s, a C5 and three C6’s and I rotate through them They’re different generations and they get better every year. There’s stuff they did really good and stuff they could do better but overall it’s a great car. “

Asked how it was to drive, he said, “It’s more fun going up to Virginia City. They handle really nice, traded my 2016 ZO6 to get this.

“The CG on the ZO6 was 51/49 so it was square on the road as far as balance. This one’s 40/60 so it’s tail end heavy but it still handles pretty good. All C8’s are mid engine.”

This Shelby Cobra as another car on display.

Another performance car on display was a newer model of the Shelby Cobra.

As usual there was a Corvette row at the meet.

Hosler’s car was part of a pretty long row of Corvettes.
