LOCAL RIDER AIMS TO RACE IN THE ISDE

RENO, NV  (8-1) — For 17-year-old Carson City resident Ryder Thomaselli, he plans to be doing something very special this fall. He’ll be racing in the ISDE (International Six Day Enduro), in mid-October.

Here is Ryder Thomaselli with some of the things being sold at his recent fund raiser. Photo courtesy – Brad Moore.

Asked what the event is, he said, “The ISDE is an international competition that pits teams from several nations in competition. It’s basically the Olympics of off road, it’s a six-day event, a six-day enduro. In a different country each year and there’s a whole bunch of different countries that compete for that top spot.”

He got interested in the event after hearing about two other area riders that competed in the event.

“Just seeing people from our area go like Ty Tremain and Austin Serpa, a couple of years back. Seeing that and I’ve always seen it on You Tube so I wanted to go.”

One has to qualify for the event. Earlier this year he raced in a qualifier at Shasta Dam and added his name to those going.

During Wednesday’s fund raiser at PJ&CO he also signed autogaphs.

Asked about what happens now he said, “Get bikes and fund raise. We actually packed our bike up, probably two weeks ago now, then shipped it off to Ohio. All the bikes from the U.S. go to Ohio then they go to Spain.”

Now he’s getting ready for the trip.

Thomaselli was busy answering questions during the fund raiser.

“It starts in mid-October. We leave October 4th and spend a week walking all the tests and everything and racing starts that next week,” he said.

During the fund raiser several items were raffled off.

Over the past few months he’s used various activities to help raise needed funds as it’s an expensive trip.

“It’s going pretty good, I did a riding clinic with Zane Roberts and Austin Serpa not too long ago. That went well, did a MRANN race with some fund raising then this big shebang here,” he said.

During Wednesday’s Bike Night the folks at PJ&CO made room for Thomaselli’s fund raiser.

Every Wednesday evening its Bike Night at PJ&CO, located at the south end of Wells Avenue. This week they made space for Thomaselli to help with his fund raising efforts.

Two sponsors had easy ups for the fund raiser.

He also thanked MX Trophies, Husqvarna, 395 Motorsports, his parents, Tina Honea for her help.

Those interested in helping him can either go to RyderT128 on Instagram or find him on Face Book a tRyder Thomaselli. Here’s a chance to help an area racer competing in international competition for the American Team.
