    RENO, NV (AUG. 28) — Here it is Labor Day weekend and oval tracks will start shutting down next month. This means local motocross and off-road motorcycle racing will restart as we head into fall. There are a bunch of car meets and cruises still to come. CAR MEETS: • The Iron Mafia starts the weekend off at 8 a.m. on Thursday as the have their weekly meet.   • OUTLAW FLAT TRAC RACES AT FUJI PARK

    CARSON CITY, NV (Aug. 24) — The 8th annual Outlaw Flat Trac Races were held this weekend at Fuji Park. It’s a Friday-Saturday show with amateurs racing in the afternoon followed by the Pro racers. Rains came Saturday but they were able to get the amateur heats and races in. Then the rains came again but stopped in time for the opening ceremonies. Once that was over there was a series of heat races. After another short break it was time for the show to get rolling.   • WEEKEND CAR MEETS DRAW MANY CLASSICS

    RENO, NV (Aug 25) — Two car meets bookended the weekend. One was for veterans while the other ended a series of six summer meets. • Saturday began in front of Sportsman Warehouse where the annual Cars and Strips Classic Car Celebration happened. The event is sponsored by the Iron Mafia and Nevada Car Coalition. Despite the rain there was a pretty good turn out. One row had a Red VW in a line of various cars.     RENO, NV (Aug. 18) — As summer winds down Reno Cars & Coffee had its second meet of the month. Good weather meant a decent turn out of cars and trucks by the Human Bean Coffee stand by the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes. One thing at any Cars & Coffee meet is a variety of cars and trucks.   • AUGUST RACES AT RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY

    FALLON, NV (Aug. 10) — While many were celebrating Hot August Nights in Reno and Sparks others were either racing or spectating at Rattlesnake Raceway. Saturday began with a water balloon battle between the kids in attendance as well as track officials and drivers. Once that ended and after the area was cleaned up, it was time for racing.   • HOT AUGUST NIGHTS IN RENO AND SPARKS

    RENO, NV (Aug. 8) — The 10-day long festival known as Hot August Nights is rolling along. After starting in Virginia City it’s going full bore this week in Reno and Sparks. It’s a celebration highlighting cars from a different era as well as entertainment, cruises, drag racing as well as displays of cars and more cars.   • FRONTIER DAY RACES AT LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY

    LOVELOCK, NV (AUG. 3) — Every year the rural town of Lovelock Nevada celebrates its founding with Frontier Days. Not far out of downtown the Lovelock Speedway has two nights called the Frontier Days Races. One added incentive is a special belt buckle awarded to those that earned the most points in several classes over the two nights. First up Saturday was the Mod Mini class.   • LOCAL RIDER AIMS TO RACE IN THE ISDE

    RENO, NV  (8-1) — For 17-year-old Carson City resident Ryder Thomaselli, he plans to be doing something very special this fall. He’ll be racing in the ISDE (International Six Day Enduro), in mid-October. Asked what the event is, he said, “The ISDE is an international competition that pits teams from several nations in competition. It’s basically the Olympics of off road, it’s a six-day event, a six-day enduro.
