MRANN: WHOOPS, WASHES AND WHATEVER

COLD SPRINGS, NEVADA (June 2) — Whatever MC hosted the current round of the 2024 MRANN season. The location was north of Reno and the event was named “Whoops, Washes and Whatever.”

Since the long course was about 19-miles long Sunday was organized differently than most MRANN classes. The Pros, Experts and Amateur, who lined in rows depending on the class they were racing in had two motos.

Between those the Novice riders, also lined in in their individual classes, only raced one moto. Each race was timed at 90 minutes.

Of course in a timed race, if the leaders go past the checkered flag before the time is up, well they will do another lap.

At the top of the classes were four racing in the AA pro Division. The winner would receive $5,000 while the next two got less.

Austin Serpa, on his way to sweeping both motos heads into the water hazard.

When the banner dropped for the first moto dropped Austin Serpa took off. Behind him Eathan Pacak and Ryder Thomaselli were giving chase. Unfortunately the four one, Red Herrera ended his day with a crash.

Serpa completed three laps with a total time of 1:57:38. It would be the same result on his second lap but since the course was a bit used he needed 2:03:12 to complete three laps.

After taking the second checkered flag he said, “It was a lot. Other than my little mistake those rocks were that was a pretty easy section all day. The hill toward the end of the lap was pretty easy too

‘There weren’t any crazy challenges on the track it was mostly trying to stay focused. Kept like zoning out and I’d blow out into the bushes, I’d say staying focused was probably the hardest part.”

Then he thanked 95 Motorsports, Moose Racing, Delaney Drive Components, Precision Racing Products. He also thanked his father, who had to miss this race, his girl friend, Enduro Engineering and everyone else.

Ethan Pacak, who ended up 3rd overall had fun in the rocks.

Ehan Pacak used a fifth in the first moto and a second in the second to claim third.

During the day there was a fund-raiser for Rydeer Tomaselli, who has qualified for this year’s Six Day Enduro that will be held in Spain. However his day was a bit of an up and down affair but he ended up second in the combined finishing order.

Runner up Ryder Thomaselli had a challenging day but ended up second overall.

Asked about the day he said, “I was kind of out of my element, I’m more of a woods guy but I only live an hour from here and Whatever MC hit us up and wanted to help us out. So I came out, thought I would race and have some fun.

“I got stuck behind Austin in the dust in my first moto and my front brake lever fell off so I kind of had to cruise around those last two laps.”

His second moto was a bit more exciting.

“In the second moto I got the hole shot, was charging and charged a little too hard near a rock section and yard sailed it. I honestly don’t even remember what happened.

“Bent my bars all up, cruised for a little longer and crashed again. Bike flipped on top of me, Austin was nice enough to stop and flip it over me. Came into the pits, got my bars sort of fixed up then kind of went out and cruised for a little bit.”

Then he thanked his parents, 395 Motorsports, Huskavarna and Fly, 707 Suspension and Whatever MC for his efforts.

Top 3 AA finishers after the second moto

After the final checkered the top three AA finishers, who earned the money, lines up. They are Rydere Thomaselli. Austin Serpa and Ethan Pacak.

Finishing fourth in the combined totals was Jesse Miller (66).

The first Expert was Jesse Miller. He completed two laps in both motos and ended up fourth overall for the day.

The first Amateur overall was Colten Leaitt who had a combined finish of 8th when the second moto ended.

The first amateur was Colten Leavitt, who ended up 8th overa..

After catching his breath he said, “The race was good, that third lap was probably the best one, the last one sucked and the first two were pretty good. The rocks were pretty good, they tired you out but just get them over with and it’s not too bad.”

Then he thanked his parents, Quick Moto, Scrives, Trail Blazers and everyone that put on the race.

The first woman amateur to finish was Carley Legenbauer, who ended up 34th.

Going further down the list Carley Legenbauer ended up 34th while Kylah Krupa finished 36th.

After she took the checkered flag Legenbauer said, “I think I’m the only one that did two laps on Moto 2 as well. I had a lot of fun single track on this race, couple fun puddles to go through and one really hard hill.

“I think I did worse in the rocks over time but I got through them all four times. In the first 10-minutes of the first race I broke my hand guard and it flopped around the rest of Moto 1.”

Then she thanked her pit crew for fixing the bike between motos and her friends that came out to support her.

Ian Prince was the top Over 30 rider and he had a combined finish of 18. Moving up into the Over 40 ranks Casey Segale topped that group with a combined finish of 19th for the day.

At the top of the age list was Over 50 rider John Omohundro, who did two laps in each moto. His overall combined finish was 20th, not bad really.

The Novice winner was Logan Goffinet. He also had fun with the rocks.

Between both motos the Novice riders got their chance. Finished first overall was Logan Goffinet, who races in the 250 Novice Class.

Lars Millim was second in the Novice race. Here he’s going through the water hazard.

The runner-up was Lars Millim, who also rode in the 250 Novice Class. He like the others, after going through the rocks splashed his way through the water hazard.

Further down the list, Robyn Embrey, in 41st place, was the first Woman Novice to finish. At the top of the age scale Dylan Gallagher, who ended up 46th overall topped the Over 50 Class.
