RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY OPENS ITS 2024 SEASON

FALLON, NV (April 20) — Great spring weather greeted racers and fans as Rattlesnake Raceway opened the new season. The two-day show ran Friday and Saturday nights and a boy and a girl got a free bike that second night.

Before racing began cars lined up for a memorial lap honoring Loretta Christiano, who passed last week. Her husband helped lead the memorial lap.

Saturday’s program began on a somber note. Drivers lined up on the front stretch to honor Loretta Christiano, who suddenly passed away last week at a Dwarf Car National in Bakersfield, California. Her husband is a Dwarf Car racer and he led the memorial lap to honor her.

First on the racing card was the Street Stock feature. When the 25-lap feature began Jeff Willis and Ray Elder were leading the charge. Soon Joe Conroy used an inside pass to take the lead coming out of Turn 4.

Ryan Parkhurst on his way to winning the Street Stock main.

Back in the pack Ryan Parkhurst was making his way toward the front. He later used an inside pass to take the win and victory.

Alexis Zeiter won the Micro Sprint feature.

There were Micro Sprints visiting the track but out of the three only two were able to make the main. Alexis Zeiter led from green to checkered to score the win while Rick Zeiter was a distant second.

Next up were the Dwarf Cars and five of them took the green as they charged into Turn 1. Up front Glenn Sciarani and Philip Rowland led.

In the Dwarf Car feature winner Joe Frock passes early leader Philip Rowland.

Soon Rowland was on point but behind him Joe Frock was moving toward the front. Not too many laps later Frock used an inside move going down the front straight to take the point.

Frock won the race followed by Rowland and Sciarani.

Next on the racing card was the IMCA Stock Car feature. When the green waved Jacob Dias and Madison Hood let the charge.

Soon the race changed into a four-car duel for the lead. Dias was on point but Marie Curtis, Cody Morris and Brad Schmidt were giving chase.

During the IMCA Stock Car feature winner Jacob Dias was chased by Marie Curtis.

Soon it was Dias being chased by Curtis. In the end they finished in that order with Morris third and Carl Barlow ending up fourth.

When the IMCA Northern Sportmod feature began nine cars took the green. Up front Tom Ducan was on point with Brysyn Simeral not far behind him.

There was a caution when two cars tangled in Turn 4. Eventually four of the stating nine were unable to finish the 25-Lap race.

Brysyn Simeral on his way to winning the IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature.

Simeral would pull away and claim the victory followed by Ray Ballard in the runner-up spot with Beau Reynolds ending up third.

Seven Mini Stocks answered the green when their 20-laps feature began. Up front Cooper Lee and Kent Knisley were dueling for the lead.

Lee would eventually assume the point but he had problems and ended up on the infield. There was a caution caused when Joseph Cook hit the way then pitted.

Travis Showe takes the checkered flag as he wins the Mini Stock feature.

On the restart it only took a short time before Travis Showe made the winning pass and headed for victory. Kent Knisley ended up second while Jorden Riley finished third.

The Sierra Nevada Sprint Car Series was visiting the track. They have their own point series as they visit several tracks.

Trey Walters ran away with the Nevada Sprint Car Series feature.

This night was all Trey Walters. Once the green waved he was off and running. The only caution was caused when Nick Purdy spun and as they all do needed a push start.

Once the green waved again Walters left everyone in his dust as he ran away with the victory. Jake Morgan was the runner up while Grasen Ternora ended up third.

These are the points after the first race. The Sierra Nevada Sprint Car Series has it’s own points.

This means after one race Walters has the points lead followed by the others.

Next were the IMCA Modifieds and when the green waved Cody Neff and Mikki Beuchat led the charge. The first caution came when Dave Sciarroni stopped on the backstretch but he got going then headed for the pits.

The next caution came after Melissa Natenstet had problems in Turn 1 but was able to continue. By now Shawn Natenstedt was in the lead and on the restart took off.

Shawn Natenstedt on his way to making it double victories for the weekend.

Later the next caution came when Melissa Natenstedt spun again then after that headed for the pits. Up front Shawn Natenstedt scored the victory followed by Andy Strait and Mikki Beuchat.

The Bootleggers ended the night with their 15-lap feature. One the green the pole sitter spun out then Dodge Turner lead before Austin Miller took the point.
