    RENO, NV (March 27) — Well here it is Easter weekend and we have two races in our region as oval track season gets started. Next month there will be off-road racing, motocross, go-karts plus more oval track events. CAR MEETS: • The weekend gets rolling at 8 a.m. when the Iron Mafia has its Thursday morning meet. Location is Kim’s Donuts located at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville. • Friday, starting at 6 p.m. is the next Fernley Meet.   • STADIUM GP AT THE RENO RODEO ARENA

    RENO, NV (March 24, 2024) — This May the Stadium Grand Prix will be held at the outdoor arena, the same venue the Reno Rodeo uses. It’s a partnership between two long time friends. Paul Zielger is a co-owner of Reno Motorsports and co-founder of the MRANN Series that stages motorcycle off-road events. Tina Honea has been around motorcycles for a long time and even competed in MRANN.   • LOCKETT SHOW FILLS THE CONVENTION CENTER

    RENO, NV (March 22) — One sign of spring is the Lockett RV and Boat show at the Convention Center. Between the RV, Boat and Home Show there is something for just about everyone, even some Girl Scouts selling cookies. As usual part of the show is the annual Off-Road Motorsports Expo. This year there was a motorsport part addition to the usual Off-Road Groups. Dave Asher, general manager of the reborn Reno-Fernley Raceway was on hand with a display about the complex. He was handing out fliers and explaining what was planned for this year and into the future.

    FERNLEY, NEVADA (March 17) — This past year the Reno-Fernley Raceway changed hands. Owner Dan Shore now has selected a manager, who was the very first one when the complex was built 25 years ago. Asked about that manager Dave Asher said, “I met Mr. Cable and interviewed for the job and he said, ‘you got it.’ I had done a couple of other motorsports promotions before that.     SPARKS, NV (March 10) — Daylight Savings time began with Sparks Cars & Coffee having its first meet of the month. As usual variety was the theme as owners brought their cars and trucks to show and be admired. One combination was a BMW sedan parked by a Ford 150 4X4. It made for quite a contrast. Another pair, with a James Bond connection, was a Corvette parked next to an Aston Martin. One a domestic exotic while the other was an international exotic.     RENO, NV (March 3) — Two car meets happened Sunday, one had a modest turn out while the other was a non-event due to the weather. As a result this will be a shorter than normal article. Weather was a factor with two meets this Sunday. One was Reno Jeeps & Coffee that met by the Human Bean Stand at the corner of South McCarran and Longely Lane.
