RENO, NV (Feb. 29) — February is ending and it appears March will arrive like a Lion. At least that’s what many say. We’ll have to see if it leaves like a lamb.
One note about this preview; remember a storm is heading our way so the weather will determine if an event happens.
CAR MEETS:
• Thursday gets off to an early start, 7 a.m., when the Iron Mafia has its weekly meet at Kim’s Donuts. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville, Nevada.
• Friday is when the Fernley Meet happens. Things start at 4:30 p.m. and the 76th Station is the meeting place.
• On Sunday there are a pair of meets with both having a 10 a.m. start.
- Reno Cars & Coffee has its meet by the Human Bean Coffee stand located by the corner of Moana and Keitzke Lanes.
- Reno Jeeps & Coffee has a meet at the Human Bean Coffee stand at 3915 South McCarren by the corner with Longley Lane.
RACING (4-Wheel):
• While the Northern California tracks are starting their seasons the ones in Northern Nevada won’t open for practice until late March. Many racers are putting in long hours preparing for the up coming season.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• When this was posted it appears the Fernley Sandbox has practice from 10 until 3 p.m. Sunday. To participate a rider needs to register at, www.repracingmx.com.
• On Sunday Club Moto is hosting Round 5 of this year’s Frigid 8 Pro MX Winter Series.
• E Street MX Park is busy with the AMA District 36 Yuba River Run. Both days will feature racing.
• MMX Racing has practice sessions with Saturday’s from 9 until 2 p.m. on the Main, Sand and Kids tracks. Sunday, from 9 until 3 p.m. adds the Vintage track into the mix.
• Two REP Racing Tracks are slated for practice this weekend. Riverfront MX has sessions Thursday from 5 until 10 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday starts at 3:25 a.m. followed at 6:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 broadcasts Formula 1 practice from Bahrain.
- Then at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.
• Friday starts at 7 a.m. when ESPN 2 the network airs the third Formula 1 practice and follows that with qualifying,
- This weekend NASCAR moves west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. On Friday Fox Sports 1, at 1:30 p.m., has practice and qualifying for the Craftsman Truck Series.
- Then at 3:30 p.m. the network airs the Xfinity practice and qualifying. Finally at 6 p.m. Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the Craftsman Truck Series.
• Saturday starts at 6:55 a.m. when ESPN airs the Formula 1 season opener from Bahrain,
- Peacock gets things going at 10 a.m. with Race Day. Then at 4 p.m. they show the AMA Supercross race from Daytona International Speedway. Bike Week in Daytona is underway.
- Fox Sports 1 at 11 a.m. has NASCAR Cup practice and qualifying. Then at 2 p.m. they air the Xfinity race from Las Vegas.
• Sunday is all FOX and at noon they show Race Day followed at 12:30 p.m. with the NASCAR Cup race from Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

• Friday is when registration for this year’s Virginia Grand Prix opens. Signing up early helps get a rider a starting position toward the front. One needs to go to www.vcgp.com.
• Battle Born MX has its first race in just a couple of weeks. Now is the time to join and register for the new season. Registrations and membership forms can be found at, www.battlebornmx.com.
• Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.
Davey also keeps track of races and events all through the week.
