RACING PREVIEW: JANUARY 25 TO 28

RENO, NV (Jan.24) — As we are almost to February things are heating up in the racing world. Locally Cars & Coffee groups are having their meets and to the south there is racing.

CAR MEETS:

• As usual the Iron Mafia gets the weekend rolling a 7 a.m. Thursday. Location is Kim’s Donuts at 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

• Friday, starting at 4:30 p.m., is when the Friday Night Meet in Fernley happens. Location is the 76 Station.

• Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is when Sparks Cars & Coffee has its next meet. Location is by the Starbucks off Disc Drive on the north side of Sparks.

Reno Area Dirt Riders are having a ride and clean up at Chickadee Flats on Sunday.

• Sunday is when Reno Area Dirt Riders are having a ride day and clean up in the Chickadee Flats area. Starts at 8 a.m. and BYOB as well as food is suggested.

Directions are to take Chickadee Drive, off Lemmon Drive, and to until you find the second intersecting dirt road. Look to the left and past the tree is where you find everyone. For further information please check the Reno Area Dirt Riders Face Book page.

RACING: (4-WHEEL):

• Oval tracks are still closed in Northern Nevada. A few more schedules are yet to be published as the tracks are waiting for their respective fair boards.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• The Fernley Sandbox will have practice from 10 to 3 on Sunday. However one must sign up for a spot.

Round 2 had to be moved to this weekend to the Argyll course.

• The next round of the P.R.O Motocross Frigid 8 was moved to this weekend. Will be at the Argyll track and sign ups are now open.

MMX Racing has three days of practice this weekend.

• MMX Racing has three days of practice plus and OSMX ride day on the Vintage track on Saturday. Sunday will have the mxfactory there.

• No word yet about Riverside MX or E Street MX Park. Best suggestion is to check with each track before heading out.

REP Racing MX hosts a dual Loretta Lynn qualifier this weekend.

• This weekend, if the rain didn’t mess up the track, REP Racing MX hosts a Loretta Lynn Dual area Qualifier at Prairie City MX. We at nvracingnews want to wish good luck to all Nevada riders.

RACING (NATIONAL):

• While TV is pretty slim www.youtube.com has live action from the King of the Hammers event at Johnson Valley, California.

  • On Thursday, starting at 9 a.m., there will be pre-running the course.

• Friday stating at 9 a.m. You Tube will show more pre-running. Then at 7 p.m. they have the Toyo Tires Desert Challenge.

• Saturday gets going at 8 a.m. when seven races are live streamed from King of the Hammers on You Tube. If you want to see an unbelievable off road race this is it and the event runs though next weekend.

  • Starting at 10:30 a.m. NBC begins coverage of the IMSA Weather Tech Sportcar Rolex 24 at Daytona. After NBC gets things started Peacock will do some coverage before the USA Network takes over. It’s a twice around the clock classic race.
AMA Supercross returns to Anaheim this Saturday. Track map courtesy – swapmotolive.com.
  • Peacock is broadcasting Anaheim II as the AMA Supercross moves back to that venue. Coverage begins at noon with Race Day Live and the racing gets going at 5:30.
  • Then at 9 p.m. Peacock switches back to the Rolex 14 at Daytona.

• Peacock’s continuing coverage of the Rolex 24 from Daytona continues into Sunday morning. Then at 9 a.m. NBC carries the race to its finish.

  • Over at You Tube live streaming, starting 8a.m., of the King of the Hammers continues with more desert challenge events. All next week there will be coverage of the events and for more information please check with www.kingofthehammers.com.

High Desert Hustle arrives at the Livestock Events Center next week.

Next week there is going to be a three-day event, the High Desert Hustle, at the Livestock Events Center for Outlaw Karts. Apparently it’s the first race in a new series. Should be three days of wild racing.

Some Nevada racers will probably spend the weekend down at Cocopah Speedway in Arizona.

• Some local racers might be heading downto Cocopah Speedway in Arizona. This weekend is the IMCA Arizona Tour.

Davey’s American Racing is found on Face Book. His focus is on western oval tracks as well as national series.

Davey’s American Racing keeps track of west coast events as well as national ones.

He recently started his broadcasts so to check if they happen check Face Book around 6 p.m. Wednesday on Face Book.
