RACING PREVIEW: NOVEMBER 17 TO 20

RENO, NV (Nov. 16) — Here we are a week from Thanksgiving and as expected racing has slowed down to a crawl. However there is one event in our area plus another to the south as well as car meets to attend

CAR MEETS:

Fallon Cars & Coffee get the weekend rolling with a Saturday morning meet.

• Fallon Cars & Coffee gets the weekend rolling with a meet starting at 8;30 a.m. Saturday morning. Looks like a great time to show off a car, see some, meet car people and just socialize. Oh and did I forget to mention the free coffee and donuts.

• Reno Cars & Coffee has their Thanksgiving meet starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Location is the Human Bean Coffee Stand located by Keitzke and Moana Lane and has easy freeway access.

Racing & Practice (Motorcycles):

• The biggest event, that includes Motorcycles, Buggies and Trucks is the annual SCORE Baja 1000. This year is the 55th running of this classic event

On the motorcycle side, local Stephen Tichenor is on a team working to sweep the 40+ Pro Division. Another local is Dennis Belingheri and he’s on another team hoping to sweep the 50+ Pro class.

There are also at least two local truck teams racing. Two of Rod Hall’s sons are competing in the Trophy Truck Spec Class. Another duo, also racing in the Trophy Truck Sped Class, is local Paul Ziegler and his brother.

• Locally the final round of this year’s AMA Endurocross series visits the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center Saturday. The racing begins at 7 p.m. and the championship comes down to a pair of riders that are one-point apart going into the night so one of them will end up the champion.

Another option for tickets, without the fee, is Big Valley Honda as they have some. It’s going to be a night of crazy action inside the Events Center.

There will be practice on the motocross track at Fernley 95A Motorsports Comples but the hours have slightly changed with the time change.

• Close to home the motocross track at Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex will have practice from 10 until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on both the front and back tracks.

• Riverfront MX has practice from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. Prairie City MX has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

•MMX Racing has practice this Sunday starting at 9 a.m. Weather should be good.

RACING (INTERNATIONAL):

• FOX Spots 1 at 3 p.m. Friday has NASCAR Race Hub. Then at 7:30 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has NHRA in 30

• Friday begins early at 1:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 has Formula 1 practice from Abu Dhabi as the globe trotting series ends this season there.

  • At 3:30A www.espn3.com has Formula 2 qualifying from Abu Dhabi. This is followed at 3:30 a.m. with another Formula 1 practice.

• Saturday also has an early start at 2:25 a.m. when ESPN 2 airs another Formula 1 practice. Then at 4:20 a.m. ESPN3.com has the Formula 2 sprint race.

  • Finally at 5:55 a.m. ESPN News returns with Formula 1 qualifying.

• Sunday starts at 1 a.m. when ESPN3.com has the Formula 2 feature race. Then at 4:55 a.m. its time for the season ending Formula 1 race on ESPN 2 followed at 7 a.m. when ESPN3.com has Formula 1 Checkered Flag.

• The final day ends at 10:30 a.m. when CNBC, on a delayed basis, brings the season ending Superbike World Championship event from Phillips Island, Australia.
