RENO, NV (Aug. 10)— Now that Hot August Nights is over many cruises that took the week off are back as well as is racing in this region. There is also a bunch of racing nationally and internationally.
CAR MEETS:
• On Friday Summit Racing, on East Glendale in Sparks is having another cruise in. Things usually get going around 5 p.m.
• Saturday, from 11 to 3 p.m. is when the Bonanza has it Cowboy Truck Show. Should be an interesting meet with all types of trucks on display.
• On Sunday Sparks Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month. Location is by the Starbucks on Disc Drive. It’s in the shopping area north of Sparks off the Pyramid Highway.
• On that same day Baldinis’ Casino in Sparks is having its next Brunch N’ Classics meet. Times are from11 to1 p.m., all clubs and independents are welcome.
RACING (4-Wheel):
• The biggest race in Nevada this weekend is the annual Best in the Desert Method Race Wheels “Casey Folks,” Vegas to Reno. Time trials are Thursday then on Friday at 5:45 a.m. the first motorcycle is launched followed at 10 a.m. with the first 4-wheel vehicle. The course starts in Beatty and the finish is outside of Dayton.
• On Saturday at 6 p.m., American Valley Speedway in East Quincy, California will host the next race of its season.
• To the east Battle Mountain Raceway has two nights of racing for the Jose “Pepe” Villanueva Memorial races. The green flag flies at 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights.
• Top Gun Dragstrip, located south of Fallon, is having its final $5 Saturday this weekend. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing is from 6 p.m. until midnight. If one wants to race or see how fast their car can go the price is $20 and you can do as many runs as possible. This is the final $5 Saturday on their schedule for this season.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• The motocross track at Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex has practice from 4 until dark on Thursday. Then from 8 until 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This will be their schedule through August.
• Desert Park Raceway, home of the Northern Nevada Kart Club, will have motorcycle racing this weekend. It’s round two of the Northern Nevada Moto Series. They road race on smaller motorcycles and on Sunday things get going at 8:30 so will be an interesting show.
• Over the hill in California, Riverfront MX has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Saturday is race for the next BBMX series round. Gates open at noon, practice begins at 4 p.m. with racing to follow.
Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
• E Street MX has a fundraiser on Saturday. They are trying to help Anson Maloney raise enough money to fund his trip to this year’s ISDE.
There will be time to ride plus other things during the day. Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is open practice on the front and back tracks.
• MMX Racing is hosting on Sunday the first round of this year’s 2022 Pro Mx Fall series. This is the first of five rounds.
On Saturday MMX Racing will have another round of Speedway bike racing on it’s short course.
• Remember the Outlaw Flat Track racers return to Fuji Park, on the south end of Carson City, on Friday and Saturday, August26/27. Friday’s feature is a charity race between firemen and policemen.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Fox Sports 1 at noon Thursday will air NASCAR Race Hub. Then at 11:30 p.m. CBS Sports has the Formula E race from Seoul, South Korea.
• Friday is another open day so good time to check highlights on www.youtube.com or over on www.floracing.com.
• Saturday gets going on www.mavtv.com when the network broadcasts the next round in the Pro Motocross series.
– Things start at 10 a.m. with the first 250 moto followed at 11 a.m. with the first 450 moto. Then at noon they’ll show the second 250 moto followed by the second 450 moto.
Fox Sports 1, at 1:30 p.m. has NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from Topeka. Then at 5 p.m. the network airs the Camping World Truck Series race from Richmond. And the day ends at 11:30 pm. When CBS Sports has the second Formula E race from Seoul.
• Sunday gets rolling at 10 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the second NHRA Qualifying Show. Then at 11 a.m.they show the final rounds from the Menards NHRA Nationals from Topeka, KS.
The day ends at noon when the USA Network has the NASCAR Cup race from Richmond.

• Wednesday is when the Sparks A&W has its next cruise that starts at 5 p.m. There is music and prizes as well as cars to look at.
• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In northwest Nevada, it can be heard over the air at 1060 AM.
There is also a Podcast at amm.streamon.fm or it can be seen live on Face Book. The show is focused on all things automotive, trends, new developments and trivia.
