RACING PREVIEW: JULY 7 TO 10

RENO, NV (July 6) — Now that the holiday weekend is behind us there is another weekend full of car meets as well as racing. Once again it’s another buffet of events for about any race fan.

 CAR MEETS:

• The Carson Thursday Night Cruisers will meet from 5:30 until 7:30 for their weekly get together. The meeting place this week is Battle Born Harley Davidson. 

Summit Racing Equipment will have their Friday Cruise in.

• Friday, probably starting around 5 p.m. is when there is a cruise in at Summit Racing Equipment in Sparks. The store is located on East Glendale beside the railroad tracks. 

This Saturday is the 5th annual Downtown Revival Car Show in Carson City.

• Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is when the fifth annual Downtown Revival Car Show is in Carson City. There will be numerous trophies awarded. All makes and models are welcome.

• Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is when Sparks Cars & Coffee has their next meet. The location is by the Starbucks on Disc Drive. 

Baldini’s Casino has their Brunch ‘N Classics this Sunday.

+ Also on Sunday, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Baldini’s Casino in Sparks will have Brunch ‘N Classics. Hosting the event is the Northern Nevada Classics club. 

RACING & EVENTS (REGIONAL):

Mayhem Nation has a three-day show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds this weekend.

• It’s Mayhem Nation at the Douglas County Fairgrounds this weekend. The three-day show, starting at 7 p.m., runs from Thursday through Saturday night with a variety of events. 

Northern Nevada Kart Club hosts the KPX series at Desert Park Raceway this weekend.

• Up at Desert Park Raceway the Northern Nevada Kart Club will be hosting the KPX series. Saturday is usually for practice then Sunday, beginning around 9 a.m. is race day with a full schedule of qualifying, heats and main races. Online registration is open now. 

Top Gun Dragstrip starts the weekend off with $5 Friday then has the Summit ET and Junior Dragsters on Saturday and Sunday.

• This week it’s another $5 Friday at Top Gun Drag strip and for $15 more one can makes as many runs as they can down the strip. Times are from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. is when the Summit ET and Junior Dragsters will take to the track.  

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• The motocross track at Fernley NinetyfiveA Speedway has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  

• Over the hill the REP Racing tracks will be busy.  

E Street MX Park will be busy this weekend.

+ E Street MX park is having a Sierra OTHG and Immediate Family Ride Day. It’s free, from 9 until 2 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m., they’ll have open practice. 

+ Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

Riverfront MX is hosting the next round of the Saturday Night series this weekend.

+ Riverfront has a busy schedule this weekend with practice from 5 until 10 p.m. on Thursday. Then the next round of the Saturday Night Series happens with gates opening at noon, practice begins at 4 p.m. with racing to follow. There is open practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on Sunday. 

The next round of the Summer Sundayz series is this weekend.

• This weekend’s round of the Pro Summer SundayZ series will be at the Argyll MX track in Dixon, California. 

On Line registration is now open for those racing in the BBMX series.

• For those racing in the BBMX series online registration is open for the July 16 night race at Riverfront. 

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• On Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. 

• Friday at 2 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has ARCA Racing at the Mid-Ohio road course. 

• Saturday gets going at 8 a.m. when Fox Sports 2 has the first MotoAmerica Superbike race from Laguna Seca. 

+ This week’s Pro Motocross will be at the Southwick course and once again two networks will split the coverage.  

At 10:30 a.m. NBC airs the first 450 moto. Then things switch to www.mavtv.com as they pick up the rest. At 11:30 they have the first 250 moto then at 12:30 the second 450 moto followed at 1:30 with the second 250 moto.

+ At 2 p.m. the USA Network airs the Xfinity race from Atlanta Motorspeedway.  Then at 5 p.m. CBS Sports has the SRX Race from Nashville. This series has famous drivers competing in similar cars and provides some good short track racing.

• Sunday get rolling early at 5:55 a.m. when ESPN2 airs the Formula 1 race from Austria. Then at noon the USA network broadcast the NASCAR Cup race from Atlanta.

Finally, at 4 p.m. on a delayed basis Fox Sports 2 has the second MotoAmerica Super Bike race from Laguna Seca. 

That’s it for this weekend. If possible get out and see a race live, there is nothing like it for speed color and excitement. If not then get out and see one of the car meets. See you all next week.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In northwest Nevada, it can be heard over the air at 1060 AM.
