RENO, NV (April 13) — Well here it is Easter Weekend and there are some events happening as well in our region. Over the hill there should be practice and a short course race. TV also has some racing this weekend but it’s a reduced schedule.
CAR MEETS, EVENTS AND LOCAL RACING:
• Saturday has the Brett G. Palmer Memorial event. It’s an off-road poker run to benefit Desert Vets Racing. The Pine Nut Mountains Trail Association and Nevada Off-road Association are presenting the event.
• Easter Sunday gets going at 10 a.m. when Reno Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month. Location is The Human Bean by the corner of Kietzke and Moana Lane. There is very good freeway access to this meet.
• A little later, around Noonish they say, Reno Area Dirt Riders is having a Brappy Easter Event down in Washoe Valley. It’s an event for kids and RAD members.
If one has a dirt bike they can’t belong to a better group than RAD. The organization helps with rides, trail clean ups and other things and the sticker one must have helps fund these efforts.
• No word if Carson Cars & Coffee will have something this weekend so check their Face Book page. If they do it’s usually short notice.
• For those in the Elko area, Summit Raceway is having a Show N’ Shine at the track on Saturday, April 16.
• On April 16, starting at 6 p.m. Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville will be racing. There is also a special event for the kid, the annual Easter Egg Hunt on the infield before the mains begin.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS & SHORT TRACK):
• Fernley 95A Motorsports complex will have practice on its motocross tracks from noon until 6 p.m. Friday. Due to the expected winds this Saturday, the track is closed and also closed for Easter Sunday.
• Battle Born Motocross (BBMX) is racing this weekend. It’s the Carlin Gold Rush so Saturday is for practice while Sunday is race day.
• MMX Racing in Marysville also has practice sessions. Saturday is from 9 until 2 p.m. on the Main, Sand and Kids tracks. Sunday practice times are from 9 until 3 p.m. on those same tracks while the Vintage track is being used for an OSMX Ride Day.
• Due to the possibility of incoming rain Riverfront is tentative for Thursday and there was no mention of Prairie City. Best bet is to check the hotline at 1-775-265-7223 or the website at www.repracingmx.com.
• E Street MX is hosting Round 1 of its 2022 Short Track Series. On Friday at 6:30 p.m. there will be an Easter Egg Hunt. Saturday is a full day of racing with gates opening at 6 a.m., three lap practice sessions at 8 a.m. with racing to follow.
RACING (NATIONAL):
• Thursday at 3 p.m. is when Fox Sports 1 broadcasts NASCAR Race Hub.
• Friday is empty but a good time to check highlights from other events on www.youtube.com.
• Saturday is busy as at 6 a.m. Peacock has AMA Supercross qualifying from Atlanta. Then at noon both NBC and Peacock have the races from the Super Dome.
• Later at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs the Camping World Truck Series from Bristol Motor Speedway. The track has been converted into a dirt track for this weekend.
• On Sunday starting at 4 p.m. FOX carries the NASCAR Cup race on the dirt at Bristol. Should be a wild event and the teams might be able to replace the front windshields with screens.
That’s it for now. Want to wish everyone a very Happy Easter weekend. If you can do attend an event and have a safe weekend.
