• The Reno SCCA is staging round 1 of their Solo Autocross series on Saturday and I believe also on Sunday. The action begins at 7 a.m. at the Regional Public Safety Training Center located at 5190 Spectrum Blvd.
Solo competition is a race against the clock as competitors see who can complete the course quickest. The also don’t want to knock down the cones marking the course.
• At 10 a.m. Sunday is when Sparks Cars & Coffee has its next meet. The location is the Starbucks on Disc Drive at the north end of Sparks. •
Sunday is when the 3rd annual Sierra Zoo Charity Cruise is going to happen. Everyone needs to meet at 11 a.m. at Summit Racing, on East Glendale in Sparks and the cruise will begin from there.
• When this preview was posted there was nothing posted for Carson Cars & Coffee. Best bet is to check their Face Book page as that group is slated to have a meet this weekend and sometimes they post it late.
RACING (REGIONAL):
• Diamond Speedway in Susanville, California will be in action this weekend. It’s a Friday-Saturday show with heats beginning around 6 p.m. with racing to follow.
• Off-Road racers will be busy this weekend as VORRA is running the Hawthorne 275. Things get going Thursday with a pre-race party then Friday is for registration, a poker run and an evening a parade through the downtown.
Saturday is race day for all the classes. Award are given out Sunday morning then everyone heads home.
• On a sad note, it was announced this week that Lovelock Speedway will be dark for this season. While there maybe people working to reopen the track nothing has been said so far. Hopefully someone or group will be able to reopen the track, at least next year.
• RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex has motocross practice on its two tracks from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
• Once again MMX Racing is going to have a busy weekend. On Saturday its round 2 of the AMA District Track races. This time racers will compete in a TT event.

At 2 p.m. Peacock and USA Network airs the IMSA Weather Tech Sportscar race from the streets of Long Beach, California.
Over on Fox Sports 1 at 4:30 p.m. the NASCAR Cup race from Martinsville Speedway will be shown. This event puts a huge demand on a car’s brakes.
Then starting at 5 p.m. Peacock and CNBC team up show the AMA Supercross race from St. Louis. At 7 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has the MotoAmerica race from COTA outside of Austin, Texas.
At 9:55 p.m. espn3.com and ESPN air the Formula 1 race from Melbourne, Australia. The race is repeated, on a delayed basis, starting at 6 a.m. Sunday morning on ESPN2.
• Sunday begins at 9:30 a.m. when NBC airs the MotoGP race from COTA or Circuit of the Americas. This series is like Formula 1 but on two wheels.
At 12:30 p.m. NBC and Peacock team up and show the Indy Car race from Long Beach. It’s a race between the walls and drivers have to be inch perfect to be successful.
Over on CBS Sports at 12:30 p.m. they show the second Formula E race from Rome. Then, on a delayed basis, Fox Sports 2 has the weekend’s second MotoAmerica race from COTA.
That’s it for this weekend. If possible do get out and see a race live. For speed, color and excitement there is nothing like being there. Until next weekend, take care, be safe and see you next weekend.
