RENO, NV (March 30) — Well here we are, March is ending and April is starting. The means local racing is ramping up and more green flags will be waving, the season is getting rolling.
CAR MEETS:
• This Sunday is a banquet for car groups.
Things get rolling at 10 a.m. when Reno Cars & Coffee has their first weekend of the month meet. Location is the Kietzke Starbucks. This meet usually has a large group of all types of vehicles and the weather will be good.
• Over at Baldini’s Casino the Classic Chevy group is having a spring Swap Meet. Sadly they didn’t put the starting time but I’m guessing around 10 a.m.
• That same afternoon, from 1 until 3 p.m., the Nevada Car Coalition is having a Meet and Greet at the National Auto Museum. Should be a good chance to see several groups and tour the museum.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
• On Saturday Reno Area Dirt Riders (RAD) is having a workday at the Peavine Maze. They get going at 9 a.m. and their efforts keep those trails in good order.
If one has a dirt bike joining the group is a plus. Funds from the Nevada Off Road stickers helps keep projects like this going.
• This is a heads up for you VW owners. There will be a cruise next Sunday afternoon, route and times to be announced next week.
RACING:
• This weekend Score is staging the 35th annual San Felipe 250 race in Baja. They qualify in the 31st then the race itself is run on Saturday, April 2.

• Winnemucca Regional Raceway opens its season this weekend. Racing on Saturday and Sunday starts at 1 p.m. so it’s a daytime show.
• On Sunday, starting around 9 a.m. the Northern Nevada Kart Club opens its 2022 season at Desert Park Raceway.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex should have practice sessions on its two motocross tracks. One is for the youngsters and the other for the older kids and adults. The track is located off Highway 95A just a few miles south of Fernley.
• MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday on the main, sand and kid’s tracks. Then on Sunday it’s from 9 until 3 and the vintage track is added to the mix.
• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. • Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
• Riverfront on Saturday has gates opening at 7 a.m. with practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday is race day for Battle Born MX as OTHG hosts the second event of this season, gates open at 6 a.m., practice at 8 with racing to follow.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• On Thursday Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. airs NASCAR Race Hub.
• Friday has a repeat from last Saturday, March 26, when the USA Network at 10:30 a.m. airs the ARCA West race from Irwindale. Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports has the NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from the Strip in Las Vegas.
• Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Fox Sports has the Xfinity race from Richmond. This week AMA Supercross is taking a break as they head east.
• Sunday is a busy day and begins at 9:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Qualifying Show #2 from Las Vegas.
Then at 12:30 p.m. FOX airs the NASCAR Cup event from Richmond. And at 3 p.m. CNBC, on a delayed basis has Moto GP from Argentina.
Finally at 7 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the finals from the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at the Strip in Las Vegas. The drag racers will light up the track.
