RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 10 TO 13

RENO, NV (March 9) — Racing is still ramping up nationally and a bit here in Northwest Nevada. With the “winter” weather being more like spring things are getting going.

 CAR MEETS:

• Carson Cars & Coffee meets, starting at 10 a.m., on Sunday. The location is 3300 US Highway 50 East in Carson City. I believe that is by the Human Bean coffee stand. 

• After last time there is no word if and where Sparks Cars & Coffee will meet this weekend. Be sure to check their Face Book Page and hopefully they’ll post it.. 

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• First motocross race of the year in Northern Nevada is Sunday when BBMX begins its season in Winnemucca. Saturday is for practice while Sunday is race day and should start around 9 a.m.

• Fernley 95A Motorsports complex will have practice sessions on its motocross tracks from10 to 3 Saturday and Sunday. They have a large track and one for the youngest rider. 

Lassen Motorcycle Club hosts the first round of the West Hare and Hound series this weekend.

• For you desert racers the Lassen Motorcycle club is hosting round 1 of the West Hare Scrambles series. Location is the Fort Sage OHV area located east of Doyle, California. It’s a two-day show for all classes. 

There will be a motocross training school this coming week at Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex.

• Next week there is a motocross school at Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex on the motocross track Wednesday and Thursday. This is for riders competing on 85cc to 450 bikes. 

Round 3 of the 2022 Frigid 6 Series is this weekend at Argyll MX.

• Moving over the hill, the next round of the2022 Frigid 6 series will be held at Argyll MX. Saturday is for practice while Sunday is race day. 

Saturday is test and tune day for SXS racers at E Street MX Park.

• E Street MX Park has SXS test and tune on Saturday from 9 until 2 p.m. on the short track. Don’t know about practice on the MX track for Sunday as it wasn’t posted. 

There will be flat track practice at MMX Racing this Saturday.

• MMX Racing is going to have a busy weekend. On Saturday the track has Dirt Track Practice from 9 until 1 p.m. and this should be for the flat track racers. 

MMX Racing will have it’s usual practice sessions this weekend.

The motocross riders will have the usual practice sessions. Saturday from 9 until 2 on the main, sand and kids tracks while Sunday is from 9 until 3 p.m. with the vintage track added. 

• Both of REP Racing’s tracks will have practice sessions Riverfront has Thursday practice from 4 until 9 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. Prairie City has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

Diamond Mountain Speedway has test and tune sessions this weekend.

While it isn’t racing yet, Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California is having test and tune sessions this weekend. Times are from noon until 6 p.m. each day. 

The Mint 400 is run this Friday and Saturday.

• To the south the annual Mint 400, which is a stand-alone event now, happens this weekend. Racing is on Friday and Saturday, for further information please go to www.themint400.com

Now over to TV Land. 

• At 3 p.m. Thursday Fox Sports 1 airs NASCAR Race Hub. 

• Friday’s race is on www.mavtv.com when, at 3:30 p.m. that network airs the ARCA racing event from Phoenix Raceway. The event is clouded due to a horrific crash by one team’s hauler. 

• Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. Fox Sports airs the Xfinity race from Phoenix. At 4 p.m. CNBC and Peacock broadcast the AMA Supercross race from Detroit.

This has been Bike Week in Daytona. The Moto America Daytona 200, on a same day delayed basis, is at 5 p.m. on mavtv. This race usually ends the weeklong celebration of the two-wheeled world.

• Sunday gets going on Fox at 11 a.m. when the network airs the NHRA Gatornationals from Gainsville, Florida. The broadcast is repeated at 4 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.

The NASCAR Cup race at Phoenix Raceway ends the series west coast swing. Fox will air the race beginning at 12:30 p.m. as they race on this fast one-mile track.
