RENO, NV (March 2) — Now that March is here racing is heating up and is building in Northern Nevada. Soon tracks will be opening and across the country national series are going.
CAR MEETS:
• Today, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. the Reno Corvettes have their monthly meeting at the Bonanza Casino on North Virginia Street. If you have a Corvette might be good to visit them.
• Saturday, at noon, the Nevada Jeep Club is having its Inaugural Show & Shine. The location is the Peavine Taphouse located at 7665 Town Square Lane, unit #101 on the west side of Reno. There will be all kinds of awards given out.
• Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is when Reno Cars & Coffee has its next meet. The location is at the Keitzke Starbucks, the weather should be improving so there could be a good turnout.
PRACTICE AND RACING (MOTOCROSS):
• There will be practice this Saturday and Sunday, from 10 until 3 p.m., on the motocross tracks at the Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex. Have to see what happens on Saturday but the weather should be better on Sunday.
• Pre-Registration for this year’s Virginia Grand Prix started on March 1. The earlier one can register the better their chance at getting a good starting number.
• Battle Born MX begins its season on March 13 but registration is open now. Those signing up online get a discount.
• MMX Racing has its usual practice schedule from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday on the main, kids and sand tracks. Then from 9 until 3 p.m. Sunday with the vintage track added to the mix.
• This Sunday, E Street MX Park is hosting round 1 of the Hangtown Shootout 2022 series. Online registration will close Saturday morning.
• Riverfront MX has practice Thursday from 4 until 9 p.m. then on all the tracks from 9 until 2 p.m. on Sunday.Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
RACING (REGIONAL, NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• This weekend VORRA begins its desert racing in Nevada with the Fallon 250. The starting area is at Salt Wells, east of downtown Fallon and on Friday there is qualifying and a poker run. Saturday is race day with the first group hitting the track at 7 p.m. Awards will be handed out in the pit area Sunday.
Now over to TV Land. • On Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.
• On Friday at 6 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck Series from Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This weekend NASCAR continues its western swing at Las Vegas. Saturday is a busy day as at 1:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Xfinity race at Las Vegas.
Then at 4:30 p.m. CNBC and Peacock has the AMA Supercross race from Daytona. Once again there is a special course laid out on the grass between the pit area and grandstands. The race also signals the start of Bike Week at Daytona. It’s a celebration of the two-wheel world.
• On Sunday, at 10:30 a.m. CNBC broadcasts the Moto GP event from Qatar.
Then at noon Fox has the NASCAR Cup race from Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Once again it’s another showing for the Next Gen racers.
