RENO, NV (Feb 9) — Spring is getting closer by the day so there are car meets, some racing as the sport has a lull for Super Bowl weekend. Still there is enough for any car or race fan to see.
CAR MEETS:
• Things get going at 9 a.m. Saturday when the Nevada Jeep Club has Jeep & Java & Parts Swap in Carson City. Location is at the Old World Coffee Lap at 201 N. Curry Street.
• Sunday is also a busy day with two meets to choose from. Locally Sparks Cars & Coffee has a meet at Buffalo Wild Wings with a 10 a.m. start time. It’s located close to the Target Store and should be great weather.
• To the south Carson Cars & Coffee, starting at 10 a.m. has a meet at the Human Bean. Its location is 3300 U.S. Highway 50 east of downtown.
PRACTICE AND RACES (MOTOCROSS):
• Over at Fernley95A Speedway the motocross tracks will have practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both tracks should be in use.
• For MRANN racers only, there is one more week before the first race of the season. Both 2022 memberships and registration are now open. The website is www.racemrann.com.
• The third round of the 2022 Frigid 6 series will be at Argyll MX this Sunday.
• E Street MX has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Both the front and back tracks will be open.
• Riverfront MX has practice Thursday from 4 until 9 p.m. Saturday, from 9 until 2 is a Karmen’s Crew Ride Day then from 9 until 2 Sunday is open practice on all tracks.
• Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 both Saturday and Sunday.
• This weekend’s practice schedule for MMX Racing is from 9 until 2 on the main, sand and kid tracks. Then from 9 until 3 p.m. with the vintage track added to the mix.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• This weekend, from February 10 to 12 it’s the Workin’ Man Nationals at the Las Vegas Dirt Track. There will be Modifieds, Sport Mods and Stock Cars racing for some pretty good prize money.
• Thursday at 3 p.m. is when Fox Sports 1 airs NASCAR Race Hub. Right now Friday is a dead day but good time to check www.youtube.com for highlights of races one may have missed.
• Saturday starting at 4 a.m. is when www.motortrendondemand.com has the first Asian LeMans Series 4H race from Dubai.
• Over on Peacock at 9 a.m. they’ll stream Supercross qualifying from Anaheim. Then at 7 p.m. it’s Anaheim 3 and we’ll see if Eli Tomac can become the first three-time winner in this year’s series.
• Sunday gets rolling at 5 a.m. when Motor Trend airs the second Asian LeMans race from Dubai. Then CBS Sports has a double header showing the Formula E races from Mexico City. First race at 1 p.m. is a repeat from Saturday followed at 6:30 p.m. with live coverage of Sunday’s race.
Next week begins NASCAR Speedweek from Daytona and the NHRA is going to kickoff its season. Until then, stay safe and if possible attend a race live or if you have one get on your bike and go practice.
OTHER RACING NEWS:
• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In northwest Nevada, it can be heard over the air at 1060 AM.
