RENO, NV (Nov. 10) — It’s Veteran’s Day weekend and another professional series will crown its champions on Sunday. Still there is a lot of racing happening as well in our region and state.
CAR MEETS:
• Saturday has two very different meets.
+ Things start when Fallon Cars & Coffee has its one at the Telegraph Coffee and Tap. Times are 9:30 to noon and the location is 1805 W. Williams Avenue.
+ At little later the Misfits Crew and D.J. Cillo are having a Canned Food and Toy Drive at the Sparks A&W located at 1311 Baring Blvd. Time is 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and its another way to help as well as show one’s car off.
+ As usual if you live down south of Reno be sure to check Carson Cars & Coffee Face Book page. Many times they’ll have pop up events so the notice is a bit short.
+ Sunday is when Sparks Cars & Coffee holds their first meet of the month. It starts around 9:30 a.m. and the location is the Buffalo Wild Wings in Sparks.
RACING (REGIONAL) :
+ The biggest event in Nevada is the annual Duel in the Desert in Las Vegas. Practice began on Monday and the week is full of qualifying races with the finals Friday and Saturday.
+ The next big off-road race is the Baja 100 run in Baja California. Registration begins this coming Monday with the race starting Thursday, November 18.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCYCLE):
• The Gold Diggers Motorcycle Club brings the MRANN season to a close with the “Rumble in the Jungo,” or the “Beatdown at Bottle Creek.”
Saturday begins at 9 a.m. when the Pee Wee racers get going for their 45-minute race. Then at 10:30 the Minis, Women, Vintage and Bomber bikes start their race on a 15-mile course.
Sunday is when the big bikes tackle a 50-mile course. A rider needs to complete one lap to be classified as a finisher and the banner drops to start the race at 10 a.m.
• This weekend Ninetyfive A Motorsports Complex south of Fernley will have practice sessions on it’s two tracks from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
• Over the hill, MX Racing should have its regular practice sessions from 9 until 2 Saturday on the main, sand and kid tracks. Sunday practice is from 9 until 3 p.m. with the vintage track added to the mix.
• Rep Racing has round 4 of its Fall Series at E Street MX Park this Sunday. Sadly the hotline wasn’t updated when the report was posted.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday gets going at 9:05 a.m. when www.imsa.tv has the first Porsche Carrera race followed by the Mazda MX-5 Cup race from Road Atlanta.
+ At 1 p.m. www.espn3.com has Formula 1 Weekend Preview from Brazil.
• Friday starts at 7:25 a.m. when ESPN2 has Formula 1 practice then at 10:55 ESPNU had qualifying from Brazil. Over on imsa.tv at 12:40 p.m. there is qualifying for the Motul Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta.
• Saturday starts on ESPN News at 6:55 a.m. with another Formula 1 practice session. Starting at 9 a.m. on NBC then switching to NBC Sports at noon it’s the season’s last race for the IMCA Weathertech Sportscar Championship or the Motul Petit LeMans held at Road Atlanta.
Then at 11:25 a.m. ESPN News has the Formula Sprint Qualifying session from Brazil.
• Sunday starts at 7:30 a.m. when ESPN 2 broadcast the Formula 1 race from Brazil. At 11:30 a.m., on a delayed basis, NBC has the Moto GP race from Spain.
Fox Sports at 1 p.m. has NHRA Qualifying session and follows that at 1 p.m. with the NHRA Auto Club Finals. Finally the series returns to its spiritual home at Pomona for the championship event.
