RENO CARS & COFFEE STARTS NOVEMBER

RENO, NV (Nov. 7) — As it is the first weekend in November, Reno Cars & Coffee had its meet at the Kietzke Starbucks. Once again it was a pretty good turnout considering the cool weather.

As usual there were a good mix of cars but one that many were interested in is very new and owned by Jason Oliver.

Jason Oliver (left) and his son stand near his new 2021 First Edition Ford Bronco.

“It’s a 2021 Bronco First Edition and is about a week and a half old and it’s got all the goodies on it,” he said. “ From an off-road prospective it’s got and electronic disconnectable front sway bar, front and rear lockers. It also has something called “trail turn assist” where you can lock either side of the rear wheels so they can pivot around that wheel for real right turning on it. It’s got auxiliary switches for any off road lights you want to add to it.  Got a pull bar on the front of it, comes stock with 35-inch tires.”

Currently he hasn’t driven it off-road as of yet. He explained that technically it belongs to his wife. As such he isn’t allowed to take it off-road or make any modifications to it.

Asked about it handled on the roads he said, “It drives fantastic, it’s a new car so it feels good on the street. I have a 2019 Jeep Rubicon but right off the dealer’s lot I think it’s a lot better than the Jeep.

“It’s highway manners are a lot better than the Jeep. It’s a solid rear axel and it’s only independent on the front side now.  It’s a great thing for the highway and it’s going to be interesting how it off roads compared to the Jeep.”

He added the Jeep has a solid front axel so he’s interested in comparing the ride once it can be driven off-road.

Then he continued the comparison.  “Right off the lot it came better equipped than the Jeep. Came with 35-inch tires already had skid plates underneath it so it’s already got the clearance. The Jeep right off the lot had to put 35-inch tires and a three and a half inch lift on it and skid plates on it. The Bronco already has those.”

This time “exotic row,” had a mix of a C-8 Corvette and Porsches.

There was also the “exotic row,” with a C-8 Corvette and Porsches lined up.

Corvette row had a Camaro holding down the end position.

Not far away was a Corvette row with several versions and a Camaro at the end. And there were other grouping of cars as well as some having their hoods up so the motors could be seen.

Looking at  other cars one stood out. That was the 2022 Supra owned by Jose Trujillo.

Jose Trujilo stands by his 2022 Toyota Supra. After the New Year it will look a bit different with the new wide body panels installed.

“It’s the premium edition but basically it’s just cosmetics right now,” he said. “Modification wise it has a H&R Catalytic Down Pipe, a CTS Cooler Intake and a STP Charge Pipe.”

Asked about how low the car was sitting he said, “It’s on Airlift Performance Air Struts right now. I bought my daily driver and am going to put this away.”

If all does well he hopes to get a wide body for it and have those installed right after the New Year. Then there will be other modifications to it as well.

“Wide body, wheels and hopefully better modifications to get the engine to around 500 horsepower. Right now it’s close to stock so it has about 380 horsepower. Still it looks good right now,” he said.

REPORTERS NOTE: If one wants to see a great collection of photos from the meet please check the Face Book page for Reno Cars & Coffee. Lance Freitas has a great collection of shots of many of the cars.
