RENO, NV (Aug. 25) — This weekend there is racing in our region but only a few car meets as it is the fifth weekend of the month. However there is bunch on TV and the Internet.
Biggest race in our area is the 5th annual Outlaw Flat Trac even at Fuji Park. The track is located at the south end of Carson City and its two days of intense racing. Due to the pit area there are some restrictions for parking.
The amateur show gets going about 11:30 both days and those mains end around 4 p.m. followed by trophy presentations. Spectator gates for the evening show open at 6 p.m. with opening ceremonies at 7 and racing starting at 7:30. Its a fast night of action that ends around 10 p.m.
CAR MEETS & CRUISE INS:
• Thursday is the final Pizza Baron Cruise-In. There is music, raffle prizes and a prize for the best car of the week. Hours are from 6 until 8 p.m.. A nice way to unwind from a day at work.
• Friday is the next to last Fernley Main Street Cruise, a nice way to end the workweek. The cruise goes from 6 until 9 p.m. and the meeting place is the Wigwam.
• Saturday, from 10 until 3 p.m. is the second Classic Car Celebration to Benefit the Disabled American Veterans. The first 100 cars get a free raffle ticket as well as a car flag.
Location is the Sportsman Warehouse in the shopping center at Kietzke and Moana Lane intersection. It’s for a good cause plus an opportunity to see some great looking cars.
• One Face Book page to check on is for Carson Cars & Coffee as they tend to have pop up events.
• The Nevada Jeep Club is having a meet, Coffee, Jeeps and Wheeling on Sunday. It starts at 9 a.m. at Old World Coffee, located at 302 North Carson Street.
• Sunday, from noon until 4 p.m., is when Final Draught on Sparks Blvd is having another car show. Next Sunday is their final one for the summer.
RACING (REGIONAL):
• Winnemucca Regional Raceway has a two-day show this week. Racing begins at 7 p.m. each night and they are making an allowance for Diamond Mountain Hobby Stocks to run at the track.
• Sunday the Northern Nevada Kart Club has its next race at Desert Park Raceway. On line registration is going on now. Registration on Sunday starts at 7 a.m. with karts on the track at 8:30, should be a day full of racing action.
•Those planning on racing at the VORRA Yerington 300 next weekend can register now. The site is www.vorraracing.com.
• Those planning on racing in the September 30 Best in the Desert event can register now as it is open. This is the Laughlin Desert Classi and the website is, www.bitd.com.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• This Saturday the Lassen MC has another of its daytime poker runs followed by night racing. The location is Ft.. Sage, which is east of Doyle. While the fires might not be a problem it would be good advice to check on the highway condtions.
• Round 2 of the Pro Motocross 2021 Series is on Sunday at MMX Racing in Marysville. Currently one can register online at,www.mmxracing.com.
• REP Racing MX has put a notice that Prairie City is closed until after the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross event is run there.
However Riverfront MX park has practice sessions. Thursday’s is from 5 until 10 p.m. then on Saturday and Sunday from 9 until 2 p.m. on all tracks..
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
•Thursday starts at 9 a.m. when ESPN 3 airs Formula 1 Weekend Preview. This week the series ends its summer break at Spa.
Then at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub followed at 5 p.m. over on Fox Sports 2 with NHRA in 30.
• Friday starts early at 2:25 a.m. when ESPN 3 has Formula 1 practice then at 5:55 a.m. ESPN 3 has another practice session. At a more civilized hour NBC Sports, at 4:30 p.m., airs the Xfinity race from Daytona.
• Saturday is a busy day as ESPN 2 gets going at 2:55 a.m. with Formula 1 practice then at 5:55 a.m. shows the qualifying sessions.
Once again if one has subscribed to Peacock all the action at the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross event from Crawfordsville can be seen without any channel switching.
Over on www.mavtv.com the first 250 moto is at 10 a.m. followed at 11 a.m. with the first 450 moto. After that NBC Sports has the second 250 moto at noon followed at 1 by the second 450 moto.
Then at 4 p.m. NBC has the NASCAR Cup race on the high banks of Daytona International Speedway. The event is being described as a homecoming and now is part of the playoffs.
• Sunday gets rolling at 5:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 has the Formula 1 race from the fearsome course at Spa, the Belgium Grand Prix. Now that the summer break has ended the series has three races in a row.
At noon mavtv airs the 2021 ARCA Series race from Milwaukee. Finally the weekend ends at 3:30 p.m. when, on a delayed broadcast, NBC Sports airs the Moto Gp race from Silverstone, England.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In Northwest Nevada it can be heard over the air on 1060 AM.
