RACING PREVIEW: DEC. 10 TO 13
RENO, NV (Dec. 9) – This week marks the end of the Formula 1 season that almost seemed it would never end. With the last major series done now we’re deep in the Re-Run Zone as far as TV goes but there are a few car events happing in our immediate area.
CAR/CHARITY MEETS:
• Sunday is a busy day as over at Buffalo Wild Wings in Sparks its time for Sparks and Coffee to hold its monthly meeting. Things get going at 10 a.m. and it should be great weather.
• To the south Carson Cars & Coffee has its first meet this month. Starting time is 10 a.m. at the Dutch Brothers Coffee stand on the south side of Carson City.
• Then from noon until 3 p.m. Aces High Rally has its Reno Toy Drive. The location is at the Lucky Beaver Bar and Burger at 3655 South Virginia Street at the back patio. Folks are asked to please bring a new, unwrapped toy.
• Further south in Gardnerville, Testa Motorsports also has an on going toy drive. That runs until December 19 when the toys are distributed to deserving families.
MOTOCROSS PRACTICE & RACING:
• This weekend the 2020 Triple Crown MX series ends with a three-day show at Oatfield Raceway in Turlock, California. When the final checkered flag waves Sunday riders will know who won their class championships.
• MMX Racing in Marysville, California has two days of practice this weekend. Saturday’s session runs from 9 until 2 p.m. while it goes from 9 until 3 p.m. Sunday.
• Unfortunately by 8 p.m. Wednesday REP Racing had not updated its hotline for this coming weekend. However if anyone plans of having practice at Prairie City remember you must register on line at www.repracingmx.com. One can also call the hotline at 775-265-7223.
RACING:
• Now we dive into the Re-Run Zone as www.mavtv.com shoulders the load Thursday starting at 1 p.m. with the first motos from when the Pro Motocross was at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch for the second time.
Then at 3 p.m. it’s Motoamerica for their first race at Indianapolis followed at 4 p.m. by Speed Sport airing a non-winged championship race and finally at 5 p.m. with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event.
• Friday we head to the Middle East as at 12:30 a.m. (Yep right after midnight.) ESPN has Formula 1 Welcome to the Weekend. Then at 12:55 a.m. the networks airs the first Formula 1 practice from Abu Dhabi followed at 4:35 a.m. with the second practice.
Later in the day mavtv has more reruns. For NASCAR fans remember www.youtube.com has reruns of those races either in highlight form or the entire race.
• Saturday again begins early at 1:55 a.m. with Formula 1 practice #3 then at 4:55 a.m. ESPN 2 has qualifying from Abu Dhabi.
Swinging back to mavtv starting at noon there is a Lucas Oil Saturday Night racing program followed at 1 p.m. with FIA karts from Genk, Belgium . Then at 1:30 there is a Monster Truck event followed by more FIA karting but this time from Wackensdorf, Germany.
• Sunday gets going at 5:05 a.m. when ESPN 2 broadcasts the season ending Formula 1 race from Abu Dhabi. If he’s recovered enough the current world champion Louis Hamilton might be in the field.
The race will be on a same day delayed broadcast at noon over at ESPN News.
CBS Sports also has a line up of several events Sunday starting at 11 a.m. with more from this year’s SCCA Run Offs followed at 1 p.m. with a Trans Am Racing year in review.
Then at 2 p.m. there is British GT Championship year in review followed at 2 p.m. by two hours of World of Outlaws action and the afternoon ends at 5 p.m. with Off Road Racing featuring Pro Buggy and Pro 2 action.
OTHER RACING NEWS:
• Last week Teresa’s Garage Radio Show was a “Best of” repeat due to various problems. This Tuesday from 2 until 3 p.m. we should be live in the studio once again.
Over the air in the Reno/Sparks area the show can be heard either on 1180 AM or 1160 AM. It’s also on a Podcast at amm.streamon.fm or can be seen live on Face Book.
